The Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences, College of Arts and Sciences, at Texas A&M University invites applications for a full-time tenure track assistant professor with a focus on lifespan neuroscience . This is a 9-month academic appointment set to being in Fall 2026.

We seek a candidate who conducts research on development during any stage of the lifespan using human imaging methods, focusing on mechanisms of change over time. While the population of interest and area of study are open, we are especially interested in candidates who can contribute to our growing national reputation in lifespan neuroscience by complementing existing strengths of the department while adding novel expertise in content area, methodological and/or analytical approaches, and/or populations of interest. Areas of interest and associated skills might include; expertise in childhood disorders and typical development; social development; aging clinical /neuropsychology; longitudinal methods, modeling, and/or data analysis; links between hormones and human behavior; stability and change in individual differences with a lifespan perspective; imaging with developing populations; the impact of experience/adversity on later psychological outcomes; or cognitive aging.

The successful candidate will engage in research, grant applications, and funded projects; teach courses in our graduate and undergraduate programs; and act as an engaged citizen of the department, college, university, and their field. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated potential for publishing high-quality research in leading journals, writing obtaining grants, and engaging in high-quality teaching and mentoring activities.

The Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at Texas A&M University is a community of scholars committed to generating scientific discoveries in the discipline, providing rigorous and inspiring undergraduate and graduate education, and engaging in outreach about psychology and the application of psychological sciences. We value collaboration, with many faculty having grants and research projects with colleagues inside and beyond the department. The Department has numerous programs to support early career faculty, including a formal mentoring program.

We offer doctoral programs in clinical psychology, cognition and cognitive neuroscience, social and personality psychology, industrial/organizational psychology, and behavioral and cellular neuroscience, and a Master's program in Industrial/Organizational psychology. We currently have 50 full-time faculty, over 100 PhD students, and approximately 3,000 undergraduate majors. Texas A&M University is a land, sea, and space grant institution that holds the distinction of classification as an R1 Doctorial University (Highest Research Activity), and faculty benefit from the resources and support associated with this designation.
