    Position Title:Manager Clinical Support-Overnight Emergency and Critical Care

    Required Minimum Qualifications:Associate’s degree and 5 years of related experience

     

    Preferred Qualifications:Degree in Veterinary Technology

     

    Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science or a related field within veterinary medicine.

     

    Hands-on experience in veterinary hospital or clinic operations.

     

    Professional background in a clinical veterinary educational setting.

     

    Supervisory experience, including staff hiring, scheduling, and performance evaluations.

     

    Oversight of multi-shift operations, including coverage during nights and weekends.

     

    Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) certification or equivalent credential.

    About the Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center (LVMC):

    LVMC is the teaching hospital within Iowa State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. We provide advanced veterinary care across a wide range of specialties while supporting clinical education for future veterinary professionals. Our Emergency and Critical Care service operates 24/7, delivering high-quality care and rapid response for both small and large animal cases.

     

    Are you passionate about veterinary medicine and team leadership in a fast-paced, 24/7 clinical environment? Join our Emergency and Critical Care (ECC) team at Iowa State University’s Veterinary Medical Center as an Overnight Manager Clinical Support.

    In this role, you will:

    + Lead and supervise ECC veterinary technicians, animal caretakers, veterinary teaching hospital assistants, and student workers during swing and overnight shifts.

    + Provide direct patient care support and ensure hospital standards are met.

    + Coordinate staff scheduling, training, and development, including onboarding and continuing education.

    + Serve as a liaison between clients, clinicians, and hospital administration to support communication and resolve concerns.

    + Collaborate with HR and hospital leadership on performance management, staffing needs, and operational improvements.

    + Support technician involvement in teaching and mentoring veterinary students, interns, and residents.

    + Counsel and support supervised staff, mediating between staff and faculty as needed.
