    Job Title: Design Engineer

    Job Description

    This design engineer will be responsible for designing molds from start to finish, working alongside two other designers. The role involves creating basic and detailed part prints and designs for customers across a variety of industries. Occasionally, you may be asked to design fixtures, though this will be infrequent. The position offers a balanced mix of 70% design work, including creating prints and mold flows, and 30% time spent on the shop floor.

    Responsibilities

    + Design molds from start to finish in collaboration with two other designers.

    + Create basic and detailed part prints and designs for a variety of industries.

    + Occasionally design fixtures as needed.

    + Spend 70% of the time on mold design and 30% on shop floor activities.

    Essential Skills

    + 3+ years of experience designing plastic injection molds.

    + Experience within the plastic injection molding industry.

    + Strong understanding of mold design, injection molding processes, and tooling materials.

    + Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, tool design, mold flow, and customer interaction.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + Exposure to Cimatron.

    + Experience with mold flow software, including the ability to create and write mold flows.

    + Engineering degree.

    + Previous experience interfacing with customers.

    Work Environment

    The company specializes in molded plastic prototyping services with core offerings that include rapid prototyping, injection molding, aluminum tooling, CNC machining, 3D printing, and design assistance and finishing services. They serve a variety of industries, including aerospace, automotive, defense, industrial, and medical sectors. The position operates on a 1st shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 6am to 4pm.

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Centreville, Michigan.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $37.00/hr.
