    If this description speaks to you, continue reading about the opportunity of Community Life Specialist. This is a part time temporary position, requiring 10-12 hours a week, located at St. John’s Meadows.

     

    Position Summary: The Community Life Specialist is responsible for preparing the monthly calendar of events and facilitating programming to include a variety of programs and outings and 7 Dimensions of Wellness. Develop relationships with residents, families & staff, book entertainment and speakers, follow budget guidelines, and work collaboratively with social recreation team, other departments and community affiliates. The hours are Monday -Thursday 10:30 am 7:00 pm & Friday 8:30- 5pm with flexibility. Responsibilities include:

     

    + Work with the Social Recreation Manager to develop and facilitate meaningful, innovative and creative programs for residents.

    + Work collaboratively with other departments for interdepartmental programs and outings.

    + Ability to assess residents' needs and interests to develop and implement engaging programing.

    + Ability to organize direct volunteers and facilitate programs and outings.

    + Build and develop meaningful relationships with all residents of St. John’s.

    + Works with the Social Recreation Manager to follow and maintain budgetary guidelines.

    + Works with the Social Recreation Manager to schedule outside entertainment and contracted services.

    + Works collaboratively with the Social Recreation Manager and Community Life Specialists in creating combined monthly publication for all neighborhoods, printing and distributing to all residents as appropriate.

    + Work collaboratively with outside vendors and community recourses that will come to Meadows/Brickstone for programming.

    + Works with the Social Recreation Manager for creation and implantation of all data entry of recreational programming on all St. John’s communication tools.

    + Perform all other tasks as required by management.

    + Occasionally departmental shopping for programs (art/crafts, decorations for events).

    Qualifications:

    + High School graduate or equivalent is required.

    + Associates Degree in Human Services and or Therapeutic Recreation preferred but not required or at least two years of experience preferred and one year required working within a senior living related field.

    + Fluent in the English Language.

    + Reliable transportation.

    + Ability to flex schedule occasionally as needed.

    + Strong computer skills.

    Physical Requirements:

    + Sitting, standing, squatting, stooping and bending.

    + Walking, lifting, carrying, pulling, pushing, bending, and reaching are required in the accomplishment of tasks. Has the ability to lift 50 lbs.
