Job Description Summary:
The Palliative Care Clinical Administrator plays a key leadership role in overseeing the clinical operations, quality improvement, and interdisciplinary coordination of care for patients with serious illness. The position is open to licensed nurses (RN, BSN) or social workers (LSW, LISW) with strong experience in palliative or hospice care. This individual will supervise team members, ensure adherence to best practices, support program development, and serve as a liaison between clinical and administrative staff.
Responsibilities And Duties:
Leadership & Operations:
Provide day-to-day leadership and supervision for the palliative care interdisciplinary team, including nurses and social workers. Work closely with other palliative care interdisciplinary team including physician, APP, pharmacy, chaplain, MA.
Collaborate with the Director and Palliative Chief to establish workflows, policies, and quality benchmarks.
Oversee scheduling, staffing, and allocation of resources to ensure timely, patient-centered care.
Facilitate effective team meetings, case reviews, and care coordination.
Clinical Oversight:
Support the delivery of high-quality palliative care, including pain and symptom management, psychosocial support, and advance care planning.
Serve as a clinical resource for staff on complex cases.
Ensure care plans reflect patient and family goals, align with palliative care principles, and are implemented effectively.
Quality & Compliance:
Collaborate with Palliative Chief and Director to identify and monitor clinical quality metrics, patient outcomes, and satisfaction.
Lead or participate in performance improvement initiatives.
Program Development & Education:
Support expansion of palliative services across settings (inpatient, outpatient).
Provide staff education and training on palliative care principles, communication, and best practices.
Represent the program in health system meetings, community outreach, and educational forum.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree (Required)LISW - Licensed Independent Social Worker - Social Work Certification and Licensure Board, RN - Registered Nurse - Ohio Board of Nursing
