    Job Description

    Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA).     Responsiblities

     

    MSTS Physical Security Systems (PSS) team is seeking a highly motivated individual with a strong background in security systems and excellent technical skills to lead a team of Electronic Security Systems professionals. Your responsibilities will encompass the oversight of installation and maintenance of physical security systems and collaborate with teams from construction, IT infrastructure, and systems applications for the life cycle of Physical Security Systems. In this role you will report to the PSS Manger and be part of the PSS leadership team. Adhere to security policies, providing comprehensive plans to integrate new systems, and recommend improvements. Additionally, you will maintain thorough documentation, lead projects, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and manage risks. Effective communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams to meet business needs and keep stakeholders informed will be essential for success in this role.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Perform maintenance and calibration of health physics equipment.

    + Receive and issue health physics equipment.

    + Generate and distribute reports and perform routine instrumentation records maintenance activities.

    + Ensure necessary supplies for the instrument shop are available for calibration of instruments and maintenance and repair of malfunctioning equipment.

    + Coordinate the calibration of measure and test equipment (M&TE) with the appropriate laboratories.

    + Conduct on-the-job training for less experienced technicians.

    + Review and provide improvement suggestions on implementing procedures.

    + Review calibration data for discrepancies, trends, and anomalies and initiate action to resolve problems identified.

    + Assist in developing new procedures and technical documents.

    + Assist in developing new methods and techniques for acquiring, analyzing, and processing radiological data.

    + Plan and conduct independent work requiring judgment in the application of instrument calibration and maintenance.

    + Perform other duties assigned by Management.

    Qualifications

    + Associate degree in field related to the position plus at least 9 years’ progressive related experience or High School diploma plus 11 years’ progressive related experience.

    + Must be self-motivated and able to complete tasks with minimal supervision.

    + Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work well as an individual or in a team environment.

    + Computer skills with software applications such as MS Office (Word, Excel, and Power Point) is required.

    + Must have advanced working knowledge of software programs that include calculations, formulas, and charting expertise.

    + Technical knowledge of radiation protection principles and instrument theory is required.

    + Knowledge and experience in portable survey instruments and counting equipment operation and procedures, laboratory quality control, laboratory analysis techniques, quality assurance programs and practices, and knowledge of industry and regulatory standards and criteria pertinent to radiological survey instrument is required.

    + Must be able to employ independent judgement and apply professional knowledge to ensure that assignments are completed efficiently, accurately, and on time.

    + The primary work location will be at the Nevada National Security Site (located 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada).

    + Work schedule will be 4/10s Monday through Thursday (subject to change).

    + May be requested to perform on call work and must be able to work nonstandard hours when required.

    + Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.

    + Must possess a valid driver’s license.

     

    MSTS is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants offered employment with MSTS are also subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment. In addition, Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship, at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2 (https://www.directives.doe.gov/directives-documents/400-series/0472.2-BOrder-chg1-pgchg) , “Personnel Security”. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.

     

    **Department of Energy Q Clearance** (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4 (http://www.ecfr.gov/cgi-bin/text-idx?SID=14b1c770db022992d237769fbe9fc519&mc=true&node=se10.4.707\_14&rgn=div8) , “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted. Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, required to participate in subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required.     Annual salary range for this position is: **$81,681.60-$122,532.80.**

     

    Starting salary is determined based on the position market value, the individual candidate education and experience and internal equity.
