    As a Veterinary Assistant at Banfield Pet Hospital, you will support the veterinary team in delivering high-quality, compassionate care to pets. This role includes assisting veterinarians and credentialed technicians during exams and procedures, ensuring pets and clients feel safe and supported, and maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient hospital environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Patient Care & Support

    + Assist veterinarians and technicians in handling, restraining, and caring for pets during exams, treatments, and procedures.

    + Monitor pets before, during, and after surgery or treatment as directed.

    + Provide comfort and compassionate care to hospitalized pets.

    + Client Communication

    + Greet and educate clients on proper pet care, preventive health, and post-treatment instructions.

    + Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, building trust and supporting positive hospital experiences.

    + Hospital Operations

    + Maintain a clean, safe, and stocked hospital environment, including exam rooms, treatment areas, and kennels.

    + Assist with laboratory tests, radiology, and medication preparation under veterinary supervision.

    + Safely handle and clean surgical instruments and medical equipment.

    + Team Collaboration

    + Work closely with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and client service coordinators to ensure seamless patient care.

    + Support hospital flow by assisting where needed, including front desk duties, treatment areas, and patient care.

    Qualifications

    + High school diploma or equivalent required; veterinary assistant training or experience preferred.

    + Passion for animals and commitment to providing exceptional pet care.

    + Strong communication and teamwork skills.

    + Ability to safely handle and restrain pets of all sizes and temperaments.

    + Comfortable working in a fast-paced, medical environment.

    Physical & Work Requirements

    + Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds unassisted, and up to 75 pounds assisted.

    + Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.

    + Exposure to animals, cleaning agents, and potential allergens.
