    Pipefitter - Career Opportunity - San Diego, CA

    Job Description

    + We are seeking a skilled pipefitter experienced in the repair, modification, installation, assembly, removal, testing, flushing, and troubleshooting of shipboard and industrial piping systems and related equipment.

    Responsibilities

    + Review and interpret technical documents, specifications, drawings, and manuals.

    + Repair, modify, install, assemble, and remove shipboard and industrial piping systems.

    + Adhere to safety guidelines and standards, including ABS, MIL STD, MSC General Technical Requirements, and others.

    + Work independently and read blueprints for guidance.

    + Install and maintain ships' piping systems, including steam heat and power, hot water, hydraulic, air pressure, and oil lines.

    + Plan layout of pipe sections, considering specifications, obstructions, and holes.

    + Operate shop machines to cut and thread pipe and fittings.

    + Bend pipes to specified shapes using pipe-bending fixtures.

    + Bolt or weld pipe brackets to support pipe systems.

    + Connect pipes to fixtures such as heat exchangers, pumps, and tanks.

    + Repair, pack, and adjust valves.

    + Test installed systems for leaks to ensure they meet specifications.

    Essential Skills

    + Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and work packages.

    + Expertise in fabrication, repair, installation, and testing of marine piping systems.

    + Skilled in silver brazing and pipe bending.

    + Ability to operate shop machines for cutting and threading pipes.

    + 4-5+ years of experience as a pipefitter in a shipyard.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Knowledge of NAVSEA Standard Items and ASME/ANSI Standards.

    + Experience with U.S. Coast Guard Standard Items.

    + Familiarity with NAVSEA 0900-LP-001-7000, Fabrication and Inspection of Brazed Piping Systems.

    Work Environment

    + Work is performed aboard various shipyard facilities in San Diego, CA, including Nassco, BAE, CMSD, North Island, and the Naval Base on 32nd Street. Shifts begin as early as 5 am, with the possibility of working up to 10-hour days.

    Job Type & Location

    + This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, California.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $30.00/hr.
