CNC Machinist - Day Shift | Gatan, Inc.

At Gatan, Inc., we don't just make parts-we help power the future of scientific research. We're looking for an experienced CNC Machinist who thrives on precision, problem-solving, and collaboration. If you're passionate about machining complex, low-volume parts and want to work in a dynamic R&D environment, we'd love to meet you.

What You'll Do:

+ Program, set up, and operate CNC and manual machines (lathes, mills, grinders, saws, etc.)

+ Work independently to machine parts to tight tolerances (from under 0.06" to 24")

+ Collaborate with engineers and programmers to improve part machinability and reduce costs

+ Perform first/last piece and in-process inspections

+ Troubleshoot machining issues and suggest improvements

+ Mentor junior machinists and share your expertise

+ Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area (5S standards)

What You Bring:

+ 8-10 years of CNC machining experience or equivalent education

+ Completed 4-year apprenticeship or 2-year technical degree in Machine Tool Technology

+ Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation skills

+ Familiarity with Fanuc and Mazak controls

+ Ability to adapt to different work centers and changing priorities

+ A team-first mindset and strong communication skills

Physical Requirements:

+ Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally

+ Standing and walking throughout the shift

+ Exposure to moderate noise and manufacturing environment

+ Use of standard safety equipment (provided)

Compensation

Employee Type: Hourly

Salary Minimum: $55,000
