    The Service Manager (Onsite) is responsible for providing both strategic and tactical leadership to field service professionals across a major site or multiple locations. This role plays a critical part in talent management, including the attraction, retention, engagement, performance, and professional development of team members.

     

    Key responsibilities include developing and managing Service Department budgets, controlling operational expenses, and leading workforce planning efforts. The Service Manager is expected to proactively address and resolve employee relations matters while translating customer requirements into actionable workforce plans and objectives.

     

    This position ensures visibility into key Water Industry performance indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics, offering insights and recommendations to senior leadership. As a second-level leader, the Service Manager applies advanced technical and operational knowledge, leverages regional resources, and collaborates with cross-functional stakeholders to drive successful customer and business outcomes.

     

    Additionally, the role is accountable for maintaining product, system, and water quality standards, as well as overseeing inventory management

     

    CORE RESPONSIBILITIES** **: To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

     

    Leadership: direct supervision of 5 field technicians, Fostering a positive work environment that promotes inclusion, recognition, and professional growth.

     

    Team Development: Recruiting, mentoring, and coaching team members to achieve individual and organizational goals

     

    Create and maintain safe working environment and culture within the organization

     

    Defines and drives (proactive) customer management, employee management, safety management, interpersonal relationship and leadership skills

     

    Demonstrates high impact culture through innovation, accountability and empowerment

     

    Is agile in responding quickly to customer issues

     

    Operational and strategic management

     

    Autonomy to make decisions that impact divisional and cross-functional / commercial span of control

     

    Ensures cost/revenue support the financial goals of the P&L

     

    Provides proactive direction to commercial teams to ensure service center objectives are achieved

     

    May provide direct supervisor to sales and other commercial colleagues

     

    Demonstrates leadership behaviors across organizational boundaries of candid communication, collaboration, developing people, embracing DEI and innovation

     

    Travel Requirements: Periodic travel using a personally assigned vehicle, infrequent overnight stays away from home

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education Requirements** **:

    Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred; or equivalent military experience; or applicable industry equivalent experience in lieu of degree

    Experience Requirements:

    Industrial or commercial process water experience required - water purification and water treatment

     

    Ability to obtain all required customer clearances (TWIC, DISA, etc.)

     

    5 to 7 years of mechanical and technical work experience or 3 years of industry specific experience

     

    Combined with 3 years of employee leadership/management experience

    Skill Requirements:

    Proficiency with computers and business software, such as Microsoft Office, Skype, Oracle/SAP, cloud-based solutions

     

    People management

     

    Ability to communicate up/down/across

     

    Ability to lead and motivate teams

     

    Demonstrates critical thinking and complex troubleshooting in order to guide and advise team members and customers

     

    Ability to manage conflict situations with customers and staff

    The estimated salary range for this position is $100,000 to $110,000, 10% annual bonus & company vehicle.   Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location, and is not typically at the top of the range.  At Xylem we offer a competitive compensation package with a generous benefit package, including Medical, Dental, Vision plans, 401(k) with company contribution, paid time off, paid parental leave and tuition reimbursement.
