Director of Budget & Financial Reporting

The Opportunity

Family And Children's Association is seeking a Director of Budget and Financial Reporting. This position is responsible for facilitating and managing all aspects of the organization budget and financial reporting process for all segments of the organization; monitoring compliance with budget policies and procedures; facilitating and training regarding the budget process and software and enhancing the current budget system.

The position is a key member of the organization's financial management team and reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer.

Responsibilities

+ Oversee all coordination and preparation of organization-wide operating and grant/contract budgets

+ Monitor and supervise monthly billing for clinical services.

+ Prepare monthly financial close and internal financial reports, including analysis of budget to actual variances.

+ Serves as the key financial liaison regarding budget and forecast throughout the organization.

+ Prepares monthly versus actual financial reports.

+ Monitor ongoing revenue and expense activity for proper coding and initiate corrections if required.

+ Communicates with management and fiscal personnel to ensure understanding of procedures, processes, software updates and pending deadlines.

+ Coordinate meeting and supervise grant accounting in preparation of detailed compensation and expense materials for departmental budget review meetings.

+ Serve as senior liaison and subject matter expert to Financial Managers for matters regarding budgeting and forecasting practices and procedures.

+ Manage the work of the Senior Contract Manager and Budget Accountant.

+ Oversee preparation, submission and tracking of monthly claims/invoices and drawdown process with various funders.

+ Serve as lead manager for the agency's annual audit process including financial statements, single audit, pension audit and IRS 990, meeting all prescribed deadlines.

+ Maintain up-to-date financial policy and procedure manuals and ensure compliance.

+ Leverage strength of current fiscal team members and develop and implement training programs to maximize and reach individual and organizational goals.

+ Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications at all levels and promoting a positive and supportive work environment.

Qualifications

+ Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field; CPA and/or MBA preferred.

+ Seven to ten years of accounting and finance experience in the nonprofit sector, preferably in a grant-funded environment.

+ Experience in reporting financial information.

+ Advanced knowledge of accounting and reporting software.

+ Excellent analytical skills.
