Description:
PATHOLOGY ASSISTANT
Boise Regional Medical Campus
Under the direction of a qualified pathologist, provides services in anatomic pathology in the areas of autopsy, surgical pathology, and specialized services. Performs or assists in human postmortem and surgical specimen examinations. May assist, initiate, institute and accomplish certain specialized procedures or duties as designated by the supervising pathologist or laboratory director.
REQUIREMENTS:
+ Bachelor’s or master’s degree in health science or a related field required.
+ 1 year of Pathology Assistant training in an accredited program required.
+ Experience as a Pathologist's Assistant required.
+ Experience with a laboratory computer system with anatomic pathology and/or histology/cytology modules preferred.
+ Membership in the American Association of Pathologist's Assistants preferred.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
+ Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Organization's Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.
+ Demonstrates knowledge and skills to competently care for all assigned age groups (Neonate, Child, Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric as applicable).
+ Performs or assists in human postmortem examinations, frozen sections and FNAs.
+ Correctly obtains appropriate tissue and/or fluid analysis.
+ Ensures proper restoration of the body for acceptable release to the funeral director.
+ Describes gross appearance, performs complete dissection, selects and submits tissue sections for microscopic examination.
