    Project Kuiper is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network.     Key job responsibilities

     

    Lead and conduct complex inspections of components, assemblies, and systems during various stages of production to verify conformance with engineering specifications, drawings, and Quality standards

     

    Utilize precision measuring instruments and advanced testing equipment to perform dimensional inspection and visual inspection with high accuracy

     

    Document inspection results, maintain accurate records, and prepare detailed analytical reports for management review

     

    Identify non-conforming products, clearly articulate the non-conformance, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)

     

    Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of inspection equipment to guarantee accuracy and reliability of measurements

     

    Develop and improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions (WIs) for in-process inspections

     

    Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, production, and supply chain to address quality concerns and implement preventive measures

     

    Provide training, mentorship, and technical guidance to junior inspectors and production personnel on quality-related topics and inspection techniques

     

    Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of quality metrics and KPIs

     

    Lead root cause analysis for quality issues using methodologies such as 5 Whys and Ishikawa diagrams

    A day in the life

    You will be a key member of a high-rate, Bar Raising Quality team utilizing precision measuring tools to inspect components and assemblies, including but not limited to:

    Perform First Article Inspections (FAIs) and present comprehensive packages to engineering for sign-off

     

    Inspect and authorize rework/repair activities for critical components

     

    Conduct thorough investigations of hardware for defects, create detailed nonconformance reports, and recommend appropriate corrective actions

     

    Perform and oversee In-Process and Final inspections for complex assembly processes

     

    Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the inspection team to follow for day-to-day tasks

     

    Train team members on the correct usage of equipment and day-to-day responsibilities

     

    Analyze inspection data to identify trends and opportunities for process improvements

     

    Participate in design reviews and FMEA workshops to provide manufacturing quality input

    About the team

    The Quality Team at Project Kuiper is looking for a Senior Quality Technician to join our team and help lead critical inspection duties within our Manufacturing Quality organization. As a Quality Tech III, you'll ensure the quality and compliance of our products meet all requirements throughout the manufacturing process while mentoring junior team members and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

    Basic Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or related technical field

     

    3+ years of combined experience in quality, manufacturing, or engineering roles

     

    Experience with root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions

     

    Experience reading/interpreting engineering drawings or schematics

     

    Experience using measurement tools and inspection equipment

     

    Experience with quality management systems and documentation

    Preferred Qualifications

    Experience with Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and 8D problem-solving methodologies

     

    Experience with GD&T and inspection protocols

     

    Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, or similar quality management systems

     

    Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar design software

     

    Experience in aerospace, satellite, or other high-reliability manufacturing environments

     

    Six Sigma Green Belt certification (or in progress)

     

    Experience with statistical process control (SPC) and measurement systems analysis (MSA)

     

    Experience training or mentoring other personnel

     

    Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams

    Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $63,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $104,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
