Maintenance Technician

Fremont, NE

$23 - $30/hr

Night Shift: 6pm - 6:30am; 2 on, 2 off, 3 on rotating

Job Description

As a Maintenance Technician, you will provide essential technical support, troubleshooting, and repair of facility equipment. Your role involves maintaining assigned equipment and offering training to peers as needed.

Responsibilities

+ Monitor production areas to ensure proper functioning of assigned equipment and intervene for repairs as necessary.

+ Utilize various hand and power tools to diagnose, adjust, maintain, and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.

+ Review work orders for accuracy and maintain documentation of work performed.

+ Assist with installation of new equipment or modification of existing equipment as required.

+ Provide training to peers as requested or needed by maintenance lead, supervisor, or training department.

+ Suggest correctible measures when downtime results from mechanical or technical defects.

+ Attend maintenance meetings and trainings as required.

+ Identify opportunities for improvement and provide feedback to supervisor regarding cost reduction, quality improvement, and yield control.

+ Follow all company safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.

Essential Skills

+ Minimum of 6 months industrial maintenance experience.

+ Proficiency with hand and power tools of all varieties.

+ Ability to accurately use and read a tape measure and industrial blueprints.

+ Basic knowledge and safety understanding of electrical components.

+ Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, and calculating percentages.

+ Proficiency in using a personal computer and various software applications, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

+ Ability to work in a refrigerated environment ranging from 45-50 degrees Fahrenheit.

+ Effective communication skills with all plant employees, as well as third party vendors and contractors.

+ Ability to operate a forklift, scissors lift, or any other powered equipment or machinery as needed.

+ Ability to work with a group of technicians or autonomously with limited supervision.

+ Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

+ Physical capability to pass required physical and demonstrate ability to lift required weights.

+ Ability to stand and/or walk for an entire 8-hour shift.

+ Wear appropriate job-specific PPE as designated by company policy.

+ Consistently practice and enforce safe working habits.

+ Recognize safety risks and comply with all safety standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Associate’s degree or higher in Mechatronics, Electrical, Welding, or similar fields preferred.

+ Previous experience working with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) preferred.

+ Welding experience preferred.

Work Environment

Work in a brand-new, highly automated chicken processing facility. The facility operates 24 hours a day processing 1 million chickens within a 24-hour cycle. Shifts include overnight from 6 PM to 6:30 AM following a 2,2,3 schedule. The work environment is refrigerated, requiring appropriate PPE and adherence to safety standards.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50000.00 - $70000.00/yr.
