    Job Title: Animal Care Technician - Cage Wash Job Description

     

    As an Animal Care Technician specializing in cage wash, you will play a vital role in maintaining the quality and health of research animals. Your primary duties will include processing bedding, feed, and other related items into sanitized cages, as well as performing daily animal health observations and husbandry duties.

    Responsibilities

    + Place processed bedding, feed, and other related items into assembled, sanitized cages.

    + Maintain detailed records of maintenance schedules, detergent and disinfectant use, and performance tests for cage washers and autoclaves.

    + Perform daily animal health observations and animal husbandry duties to maintain the quality and health of research animals.

    + Conduct daily water bottle/automatic water line and cage checks.

    + Provide appropriate food and water for animals.

    + Perform cage changing and/or cage cleaning as required per standard operating procedures and specified protocols.

    Essential Skills

    + Proficiency in animal care and monitoring.

    + Experience in animal husbandry and handling.

    + Knowledge of cleaning and cage washing procedures.

    + Familiarity with animal health and vivarium practices.

    + A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Six months of experience in research animal care and husbandry is preferred.

    + Background in animal science or animal research is advantageous.

    Work Environment

    The role is based in an Animal Research Lab specializing in Oncology. The position requires standing, walking, and moving about campus continuously. You must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs and regularly ascend/descend stairs.

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Contract position based out of Baltimore, Maryland.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $16.00/hr.
