Power Distribution Engineer
Job Description
As a Power Distribution Engineer, you will be responsible for investigating, surveying, designing, and staking electric distribution lines in accordance with construction specifications. You will conduct field assessments to gather data and validate design conditions, create detailed construction drawings, layout plans, and material lists. Additionally, you will interpret utility company specifications and local/state electrical codes, coordinate with internal and external project stakeholders, review and ensure project deliverables meet quality and technical standards, and provide technical support during construction and post-installation troubleshooting.
Responsibilities
+ Investigate and survey electric distribution lines.
+ Design and stake electric distribution lines following construction specifications.
+ Conduct field assessments to gather data and validate design conditions.
+ Create detailed construction drawings, layout plans, and material lists.
+ Interpret utility company specifications and local/state electrical codes.
+ Coordinate with internal and external project stakeholders.
+ Review and ensure project deliverables meet quality and technical standards.
+ Provide technical support during construction and post-installation troubleshooting.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's degree or associate’s degree in engineering or engineering technology.
+ Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in electrical distribution design and fieldwork.
+ Proficiency in AutoCAD and ability to read AutoCAD prints/drawings.
+ Working knowledge of National Electric Safety Code (NESC).
+ Strong understanding of electrical infrastructure including poles, transformers, conductors, etc.
+ Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
+ Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
+ Proficient in utilizing Microsoft Suite of Software.
+ Experience with NISC, Partner, or Futura software. (nice to have)
+ Experience working with Rural Electric Membership Cooperatives (REMCs). (nice to have)
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $45.00/hr.
