Description

We are looking for a dedicated Controller to manage our client's accounting operations and lead a small, dynamic team in Covington, Louisiana. This position is ideal for someone with strong expertise in inventory or retail accounting and a passion for driving financial accuracy and efficiency. As a key member of the leadership team, the Controller will play a critical role in ensuring compliance, supporting strategic decision-making, and optimizing financial processes.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, payroll, and general ledger activities.

• Supervise and guide a two-person accounting team, promoting growth and accountability.

• Prepare detailed monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in alignment with organizational standards.

• Manage inventory accounting processes, including cost analysis, reconciliation, and variance assessments.

• Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure regulatory compliance.

• Collaborate with various departments to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives.

• Coordinate external audits and liaise with tax advisors and financial consultants to ensure accuracy and compliance.

• Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement solutions to enhance operational efficiency.

• Stay updated on local, state, and federal financial regulations to ensure ongoing compliance.

• Provide financial insights and analysis to support strategic business decisions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• A minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership capacity.

• Strong background in inventory or retail accounting is highly preferred.

• Proficiency in accounting software with advanced Excel skills.

• Exceptional analytical and organizational abilities.

• Effective communication skills for collaboration across teams and external partners.

• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

• Familiarity with regulatory compliance and financial reporting standards.
