Job Title: Structural Design Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Structural Design Engineer to join our team. The role involves heavy foundation and structural steel design, particularly within the context of nuclear power plants. You will be responsible for designing pipe racks, understanding load dynamics, and working on projects that involve the structural and civil design of power generation facilities.
Responsibilities
+ Design heavy foundations and structural steel elements for nuclear power plants.
+ Develop structural and civil designs, including pipe racks, with a thorough understanding of load dynamics.
+ Engage in projects related to conventional generation and simple cycle power plants.
+ Conduct dynamic analysis and work on deep foundation projects for heavy industrial design.
+ Participate in emissions control projects, focusing on power plant ductwork.
+ Perform structural calculations and design studies using industry-standard software such as STAAD Pro and AutoCAD.
+ Review relevant codes, design documents, specifications, and construction documents to support structural design.
+ Prepare engineering designs and drawings based on contracted scope of work, staying within established budgets and schedules.
+ Collaborate with multi-discipline engineers and designers to ensure successful project outcomes.
Essential Skills
+ 8+ years of experience in structural engineering, particularly in utility, power plant, or industrial project scopes.
+ Proficiency in structural calculations and design studies.
+ Expertise in using engineering software such as STAAD Pro, ANSYS, and Mathcad.
+ Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multi-discipline teams.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering.
+ Experience with seismic analysis and design for nuclear power plants.
+ Familiarity with AutoDesk Advance Steel.
+ Professional Engineering (PE) license in any state within the US, with the ability to obtain additional licenses through comity.
Work Environment
The position offers a hybrid schedule with opportunities to work on-site in Mt Laurel or fully remote. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mount Laurel, New Jersey.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $65.00/hr.
