Position Summary
The position is a civilian representative of the IFD Administrative Office. Incumbent in this position is responsible for the overall management of programs and projects of the training division. The incumbent is responsible for assisting the sworn Division Chief of Training with details of the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs and policies to increase the effectiveness of the training provided to the IFD firefighters. The incumbent in this position is the steady constant and subject matter expert as sworn staff can change frequently with the sworn promotion process, transfers, and retirement. Incumbent requires the knowledge of and adherence to department and bureau policies and procedures which guides most of their actions. Some independent judgment may be utilized based on experience and training required due to the nature of the job functions. The incumbent in this position will need to think ahead of the present to act on future needs and opportunities. Position may work some evenings and weekends. Position reports to Division Chief Fire Training.

The purpose and mission of the Indianapolis Fire Department is to provide emergency and fire protection services for the City of Indianapolis and surrounding areas. Firefighters are also trained as paramedics, emergency medical technicians, extrication specialists, top water and rescue divers, confined space, trench rescue and as hazardous materials technicians to help save lives, protect property, and the environment. Position Responsibilities
+ Provides administration and coordination of initiatives and programs of the Training Division
+ Ensures trainings offered meets both internal needs and regulatory requirements for public safety standards
+ Reevaluates training needs with Division Chief of Training and Deputy Chief of Administration
+ Organizes and prepares information for trainings such as Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC), Engineer Refresher, Officer Development, Officer Candidate School, Recruit Classes, etc.
+ Maintains schedules, deadlines, and follow-ups for each training program
+ Creates and provides reports on data, documentation, or analysis
+ Provides recommendations from review and analysis to Division Chief and others as needed
+ Manage purchasing requests for the training division to ensure all materials are ordered timely and do not delay training schedule or impede firefighter training efficacy
+ Provides input and conducts tasks related to the preparation of both the annual and periodic budgets
+ Coordinates with IFD human resources to onboard new employees from the recruit classes, assist employees with career development, and track employee certifications
+ Manage training records and certifications for sworn firefighters
+ Acts as technical subject matter expert for training applications and databases for the division
+ Must maintain confidentiality at all times

Qualifications
Associates Degree in Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field, with two (2) years of related work experience. Must be able to establish and set priorities according to time sensitive information. Ability to coordinate multiple projects and meet various deadlines. Excellent speaking, writing, and listening skills. Intermediate knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
Preferred Job Requirements and Qualifications
