About the Responsibilities

As a Pumping Plants Supervisor (https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/capaz/classspecs/738497?keywords=maintenance%20division&pagetype=classSpecifications) , you would supervise, schedule, implement, coordinate, direct and monitor work and resources to accomplish preventive and corrective maintenance activities and assigned projects for the related maintenance division functions of the Central Arizona Project (CAP).

Directly responsible for the efficient operation, availability, maintenance, repairs, and modifications of equipment and systems associated with Central Arizona Project (CAP) pumping plants, aqueduct system, checks and turnouts, ground water recharge projects, and mountaintop communication facilities. Supervises multiple journeyman-level trade crews that perform preventive maintenance activities, modifications, project installations, troubleshooting and repairs at all CAP facilities. Responds to after-hour emergency calls, schedules maintenance/modification activities and arranges equipment outages as necessary.

Pumping Plants (Electrical or Mechanical)

+ Responsible for the operational availability, efficient operation and maintenance of (one to four) large pumping plants, generation stations and electrical switchyards, check structures and turnouts. Supervises crew consisting of multiple journeyman-level trades, crafts and labor disciplines that perform overhauls, installations, modifications, troubleshooting and predictive and preventative maintenance of plant equipment and systems, as well as local plant operations.

Some of the duties include:

1. Manages and controls work execution. Directs craft and trade employees in the performance of approved maintenance activities and tasks and responds to callouts to ensure reliable systems operations. Manages and controls quality, duration, cost, and thoroughness of all work under jurisdiction. Monitors each job closely by frequently visiting worksites to ensure job quality and progress, and reports to Water Operations any changes in duration or other conditions that impact operations.

2. Manages employee performance, hiring, and pay reviews. Ensures that the conduct of maintenance team members is consistent with the expectations of the organization and in adherence company policy, management practices, and safety requirements. Evaluates employee job performance and initiates corrective actions and measures when appropriate. Acts appropriately to resolve employee concerns.

3. Assists Manager in developing the Division budget and is responsible for compliance spending within the approved budget. Provides timely progress reporting to Manager on all maintenance costs. Measures maintenance performance and assures performance is within established company maintenance standards.

4. Ensures that all work has a valid work order and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) with required approvals. Requests, writes, reviews, performs, and/or designates authorized staff to perform switching procedures in compliance with the Hazardous Energy Control Program. Verifies accurate distribution of time and materials to specific jobs and ensures accurate work order closure information, including proper entry of failure cause, action taken and condition found codes.

5. Ensures that employees have or receive proper training to perform their jobs safely and effectively. Ensures that regulatory training requirements are maintained and industry regulations, standards, and codes, are followed.

About the Qualifications

+ Minimum of seven (7) years of recent experience in the operations and maintenance of systems and equipment associated with large water delivery systems including pumping/generating plants, substations, switchyards, aqueducts and associated auxiliary equipment or other industrial facilities/environments that operate and maintain similar systems and equipment.

+ Associate's degree or higher in an applicable field; OR completed state-approved apprenticeship in the related field; OR the equivalent combination of training and applicable experience (which must include at least three (3) years of additional related work experience plus a high school diploma or GED).

+ Two (2) years of progressive supervisory or leadership experience within the industry.

+ Must have good communication and interpersonal skills.

Required Certifications or Licenses:

+ Must have a valid driver's license and maintain a good driving record.

+ This is a safety-sensitive position and requires physical testing.

Preferred Certifications or Licenses:

+ Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP)

+ Certified Plant Maintenance Manager (CPMM)

+ Certified Reliability Leader (CRL)
