    The Department of Political Science at the University of Utah invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Comparative Politics at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning July 1, 2026. We are interested in candidates whose research makes novel theoretical contributions to such areas as political economy and political development, democratic or authoritarian regimes, judicial politics and courts, social movements and protests, and/or the environment in one or more regions of the world _._ Candidates with expertise in any world region will be considered, though we have special interest in Asia (especially China) and Africa. The successful candidate will have expertise in field research and original data collection, substantial training in quantitative methods, and willingness to teach graduate and undergraduate methods classes. Applicants should have a record of research productivity, strong grant potential, and a willingness to contribute to interdisciplinary research and teaching.
