    Budget Title: Instructional Support Associate (SL2)

     

    Salary: $42,995 (10-month, college-year)

     

    The Department of Chemistry at Binghamton University (State University of New York, https://www.binghamton.edu/chemistry/) invites applications for a full-time, Chemistry Instructional Program Associate position. Duties all relate to supporting the teaching functions of the department's Instructional Chemistry laboratories. Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related field and must have the ability to lift at least 30 pounds. The starting salary is $42,995.00 including a NYS benefits package.     This position will support the teaching function of the Chemistry Department by:

    + Setting up instruments, and preparing chemicals and reagents for the instructional chemistry teaching laboratories

    + Daily distributing and clearing of chemicals in the labs

    + Maintaining records and files of instrumentation and chemicals for the instructional chemistry labs

    + Assisting with the management of the instructional chemistry stock rooms

    + Assisting with the management of the instructional chemistry common areas

    + Attaining knowledge of general lab safety, health and safety practices and protocol for waste disposal

    + Providing training and work direction to student employees

    + Assisting and supervising undergraduate students and graduate teaching assistants during laboratory sessions

    + Assisting with the development of new lab exercises

    + Participating in necessary institutional functions such as, but not limited to, departmental and university committees.

    Job Requirements:

    + Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Chemistry or related field

    + Ability to lift at least 30 lbs

    + Ability to work 10 am to 6 pm

    Preferred:

    + Evidence of familiarity with general lab safety, health and safety practices and protocol for waste disposal
