Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) is seeking a Quality Source Inspector II for our Torrance, CA location. HFS is a business unit of Howmet Aerospace, headquartered in Torrance, California. We hold the number one global position in aerospace fastening systems, and we’re the North American leader in commercial transportation fasteners. Our high-tech, multi-material fastening systems are found nose to tail on aircraft and aerospace engines. Our products are also critical components of industrial gas turbines, automobiles, commercial transportation vehicles, and construction and industrial equipment.
General Summary:
Personnel are directly involved in the inspection of product in the in-process and final inspection areas. Performs Source Inspection on behalf of customers as defined in customer delegation procedures. Completes defective material reports, data processing move transactions and first article reports per AS9102 requirements as required. Communicates with department supervision as necessary. Inspector may be held to established quality standards.
Specific Responsibilities:
+ Inspect parts visually and dimensionally for conformance to manufacturing drawings, quality control specifications and customer requirements.
+ Must utilize all precision measuring equipment and techniques as applicable, including micrometers, calipers, and optical comparators.
+ Perform First Article Inspection Reports per AS9102 requirements
+ Use statistical sampling plans; complete/verify various inspection reports-including S.P.C. charts, first article reports, and defective material and test reports.
+ Complete data processing move transactions as required.
+ Communicate any daily activities that may need to be passed forward to the next shift.
+ Must know how to read blueprints, and to use different gages, such as micrometers, calipers, comparators, threat gages, pain gages, high gages, specs, protrusion blocks, etc.
+ Performs other tasks of equal or lesser skill as required. Other duties and/or responsibilities may be performed as part of cross-training or employee development plan.
Basic Qualifications:
+ Minimum +3 years of DSQR or Fastener aerospace experience
+ Basic understanding of Federal Aviation Administration requirements and impact
+ Basic understanding of MRB disposition
+ Employee must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
+ This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant’s ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Can Perform First Article Inspection Reports per AS9102 requirements
+ eCAV submittal knowledge
+ Ability to compare purchase orders with vendor certifications
