Overview
The Vice President, Retail Media Buying is responsible for leading investment strategy, execution, and optimization across the retail media landscape to drive measurable client growth. This role partners closely with clients to identify opportunities within retail media networks and deliver best-in-class buying strategies that maximize performance and efficiency.
The VP oversees media investment across Amazon (Search and Display), Walmart, Target, and retail networks such as Criteo, CitrusAd, and Quotient, ensuring campaigns are executed with precision and aligned to business objectives. This leader is accountable for driving performance against revenue, sales, and ROI goals while serving as a senior strategic partner to both clients and internal teams. Proven excellence in retail media buying, investment optimization, and digital media execution is required. Experience with shopper marketing and deep knowledge of retailer ecosystems are a strong plus.
Responsibilities
+ Lead the development and execution of retail media buying strategies across major retail media networks (Amazon, Walmart Connect, Target Roundel, Precision Marketing, etc.).
+ Define investment approaches that maximize performance and efficiency while aligning with client objectives.
+ Oversee budget allocations, pacing, and optimization strategies across retail media channels.
+ Manage, mentor, and grow a team of media buyers, ensuring best-in-class execution and professional development.
+ Establish and enforce standardized buying processes, QA procedures, and performance benchmarks.
+ Foster collaboration between planning, operations, analytics, and client service teams.
+ Build and maintain senior-level relationships with retail media networks, DSPs, and technology partners.
+ Negotiate inventory, pricing, and data partnerships to secure competitive advantages for clients.
+ Stay ahead of retail media marketplace trends, beta opportunities, and platform changes.
+ Partner with client leads to deliver buying recommendations, investment strategies, and marketplace insights.
+ Translate buying performance into clear storytelling that connects to client business outcomes.
+ Represent buying expertise in senior-level client meetings and new business pitches.
+ Ensure flawless execution of buys, including trafficking, QA, and campaign monitoring.
+ Oversee optimization strategies to improve ROI, ROAS, and efficiency across retail networks.
+ Implement measurement frameworks that tie media investment to sales and brand outcomes.
+ Champion test-and-learn agendas across new formats (CTV, retail offsite, in-store digital).
+ Define and socialize best practices in retail media buying across the organization.
+ Drive adoption of automation, AI tools, and advanced analytics to scale buying efficiency.
Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred, preferably in marketing, advertising, business, engineering, statistics, economics, sociology, or equivalent
+ 10+ years of experience in retail media with increasing levels of responsibility
+ 7+ years of people management experience
+ Working knowledge in technologies such as DSPs and Retail Media Platforms
+ Strong analytics, organizational, and communication skills
+ Experience within a major agency holding company or independent agency known for programmatic and social excellence
+ Exceptional strategic thinking, client communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
+ Client facing experience with the ability to identify risks and effectively manage through issues
+ Strong project management, analytics, organizational, and communication skills
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
+ Experience in applying social marketing to brand-building & direct response initiatives

The benefits offerings listed are available to U.S. based employees, are reviewed on an annual basis, and are governed by the terms of the applicable plan documents.
Compensation Range: $146,490 - $210,420 annually. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. Temporary roles may be eligible to participate in our freelancer/temporary employee medical plan through a third-party benefits administration system once certain criteria have been met. Temporary roles may also qualify for participation in our 401(k) plan after eligibility criteria have been met. For regular roles, the Company will offer medical coverage, dental, vision, disability, 401k, and paid time off.
