    Your Role at Allison

     

    As a Maintenance Supervisor, you’ll lead the Service Maintenance skilled trades group, including electricians, machine repairmen, pipefitters, and millwrights. You’ll focus on maintaining machinery in production and assembly areas while driving Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Lean Manufacturing, and waste reduction. In this role, you’ll balance day-to-day maintenance with long-term improvement initiatives that keep Allison’s operations safe, efficient, and reliable.

    Maintenance Supervisor Responsibilities:

    In this role, you will:

    + Lead and supervise skilled trades activities across multiple disciplines.

    + Diagnose root causes of equipment malfunctions and implement corrective actions.

    + Coordinate preventive, predictive, and scheduled maintenance to reduce downtime.

    + Implement safety standards, housekeeping practices, and compliance with labor agreements.

    + Oversee construction, capital, and engineering projects within your area.

    + Maintain a consistent presence on the shop floor to promote safety, quality, and teamwork.

    + Collaborate with cross-functional partners to solve problems and improve processes.

    + Support productivity improvements aligned with Safety, Productivity, Quality, Responsiveness, and Cost (SPQRC) initiatives.

     

    What You Bring to the Team

     

    You’re a proactive and hands-on leader who motivates skilled trades teams, communicates clearly, and balances day-to-day priorities with long-term improvement goals. You thrive in fast-paced environments where collaboration, technical knowledge, and continuous improvement make a measurable impact.

    Required Qualifications

    + Associate degree or equivalent experience

    + 1+ year of supervisory experience

    + Technical degree or Skilled Trade Journeyman status accepted as equivalent

    Preferred Qualifications

    + 3+ years of supervisory experience, ideally in maintenance or manufacturing.

    + Experience supervising union employees.

    + Hands-on experience as an industrial tradesperson, service mechanic/engineer, or maintenance engineer.

    + 10+ years of maintenance/manufacturing experience.

    + Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.

    + Understanding of safe industrial work practices.

    + Knowledge of PC, CNC, and PLC controls.

    + Experience with CMMS (computerized maintenance management systems).
