    Job Summary

    Schedule: Monday - Friday, daytime hours

     

    Employment Type: Full-time with benefits

    Primary Responsibilities:

    + Responsible for chart abstraction and data entry for the Trauma Center.

    + Perform data abstraction and collection from the electronic medical record, data entry into the trauma database, and statistical data reporting of all trauma patients.

    + Work collaboratively with Trauma Service staff to maintain efficient data reporting, support performance improvement initiatives, and ensure regulatory compliance with trauma standards.

    Qualifications

    + Education:

    + High School Diploma or GED, required. 2 Year / Associate Degree - HIM, RHIT, Coding, preferred.

    + AIS Coding Course within 12 months of hire, required.

    + Trauma Registrar Course within 12 months of hire, required.

    + ICD10 Course within 1 year of hire, required.

    + Continuing Education - Minimum 12 hours annually, required.

    + Experience: Trauma Registry or other health related experience such as: LPN, EMT, CNA, RHIT, or Medical Coder, preferred.

    + Licensure/Certification:

    + Certified Abbreviated Injury Scale Specialist (CAAISS) Certification, preferred.

    + Certified Specialist in Trauma Registry (CSTR), preferred.

    + Registered Health Information Certification (RHIT), preferred.

    + Any of the following certifications: Certified Professional Coder Certification (CPC), Certified Coding Associate (CCA), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), preferred.

    + Additional Skills (required):

    + Medical terminology

    + Knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology

    + Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

    + Basic data entry and computer skills

    + Ability to work in a team setting

    + Additional Skills (preferred):

    + Knowledge of AIS Injury coding

    + Knowledge of ICD10 coding

    + Previous use of EPIC electronic medical record system
