JOB SUMMARY
The podiatric surgeon specializes in diagnosing, treating, and preventing foot, ankle, and lower extremity conditions and injuries through surgical and non-surgical means. The surgical podiatrist will perform procedures on the foot and ankle, diagnose conditions, develop treatment plans, and provide patient care pertaining to foot and ankle conditions. Areas of expertise include general surgical podiatry, sports medicine, foot and ankle trauma, and diabetic limb salvage. They collaborate with other healthcare professionals, maintain patient records, educate patients, and stay updated on surgical techniques. They also prescribe orthotics and rehabilitation therapies when needed. Essential skills include clinical experience, knowledge of diabetic foot care, surgical proficiency, diagnostic abilities, manual dexterity, communication skills, familiarity with EHR systems, excellent time management and organizational skills, a commitment to continuing education, and the ability to work under pressure.
PRINCIPLE FUNCTIONS includes the following, other duties may be assigned:
+ Perform surgical procedures on the foot, ankle, and lower extremities.
+ Diagnose and treat various podiatric conditions such as fractures, deformities, and infections.
+ Evaluate patient medical history and perform physical examinations.
+ Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
+ Provide pre- and post-operative care and instructions to patients.
+ Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
+ Maintain up-to-date patient records and documentation.
+ Educate patients on proper foot and ankle care and preventive measures.
+ Stay current with advances in podiatric surgical techniques and technologies.
+ Prescribe orthopedic devices and rehabilitation therapies when necessary.
JOB KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS
Education
+ Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree from an accredited podiatry school (American or Canadian).
+ Satisfactory completion of a nationally accredited (American or Canadian) podiatric medicine and surgery residency program.
Training and Experience
+ A minimum of one (1) year in the practice of surgical podiatry required.
+ Experience in both surgical and non-surgical podiatric treatments.
+ Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
+ Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail.
+ Must demonstrate well-developed communication skills and independent decision-making skills.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
+ Current professional Podiatry license in Washington State required.
+ Board Certified or Eligible by the American or Canadian Board of Foot & Ankle Surgery
+ Active unrestricted DEA license required.
+ BLS required.

Salary Range: $300,000-$325,000 Annual Salary / Eligible for a one-time incentive up to $20,000
