Role Overview:
Alameda Health System is hiring! The Vice President of Innovation is a senior executive role responsible for spearheading transformative innovation initiatives within Alameda Health System. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, this position will drive the development and implementation of cutting-edge strategies to improve patient care, operational efficiency, health equity, and overall system performance. The VP will lead efforts to integrate emerging technologies, foster partnerships, and create a sustainable innovative ecosystem that addresses evolving healthcare challenges, such as cost reductions, quality improvement, and digital transformation. This role requires a visionary leader passionate about leveraging innovation to revolutionize healthcare delivery.
**DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS** : NOTE: The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.
+ Design and launch a comprehensive innovation strategy aligned with the healthcare system's goals. Build and nurture a systemwide innovation ecosystem, including partnerships with universities, startups, technology firms, payers, providers, and government entities to facilitate knowledge sharing, experimentation, and implementation of new solutions.
+ Identify, evaluate, and prioritize innovative opportunities in areas such as digital health, AI, telemedicine, personalized medicine, and process improvements.
+ Lead the full lifecycle of innovation projects, from ideation and prototyping to piloting, scaling, and integration into clinical and operational workflows.
+ Forge strategic alliances with external stakeholders, including health tech accelerators, incubators, and/or venture partners. Engage clinicians, primary care providers, and internal teams to co-develop solutions that address unmet needs, such as enhancing health outcomes and reducing costs in employer-sponsored care models.
+ Provide training in innovation methodologies and promote cross-functional collaboration.
+ Establish processes for securing funding (including public grants and self-sustaining models), and commercializing successful innovations. Develop metrics to measure impact, such as ROI, patient satisfaction, and adoption rates, while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
+ Serve as an internal and external advocate for healthcare innovation. Contribute to industry discussions through case studies, and presentations, while staying abreast of trends in healthcare technology, regulations, and market dynamics.
+ Oversee multiple initiatives simultaneously, including business case development, stakeholder management, and risk assessment, ensuring projects deliver measurable improvements in care quality, equity, and affordability.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Advanced degree (Master's, PhD, MD, DO). An MBA is preferred.
10+ years experience in complex environments such as hospitals, health systems, consulting firms, or startups.
+ Preferred Attributes:
+ Prior roles in corporate development, venture capital, or external innovation partnerships are highly desirable.
+ Experience in co-developing ventures with partners, leading ideation sessions, or working in employer-sponsored health models. Familiarity with open innovation frameworks and a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and ethical practices.
