Job Summary and Qualifications
The Patient Safety Attendant (PSA)participatesin high-quality, patient-centered care by providing continuous observation and monitoring forhigh-riskpatients.In collaboration with the patient care team, the PSA ensures the patient environment is free of obstacles and minimizesriskof falls and accidental or intentional self-harm.The PSA may alsoassistwith basic activities of daily living.Your responsibilities will include:
+ Maintains a direct line of sight with patient at all times, including while family and/or visitors are in the room.
+ Identifying risks such as falls or self-harm and promptly alerting the care team to intervene quickly and protect patients
+ Establishes a safe, risk-free patient environment byutilizingknowledge of fall prevention protocols, infection control measures, and self-harm prevention. Performs room assessment regularly and after any visitations.
+ Creates clear,accuratedocumentation on patient status and activity during the shift.
+ Accompanies patient and ensures patient safety during transportation, testing, and procedures occurring away from the patient’s normal environment.
+ Performs other duties as needed when not providing direct patient observation.Assistsnursing staff with tasks such as transporting patients, delivering equipment and supplies, transporting specimens, delivering patienttrays, answeringphones, andassistingvisitors.
What qualifications you will need:
+ Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
+ Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
+ 1 Year of Healthcare experience preferred
