    We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our new product development team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to engineering excellence and possess the tenacity to drive innovative product development from initial voice-of-customer insights through successful production launch. This role requires a strategic thinker and hands-on engineer who thrives in a collaborative, cross-functional environment, balancing customer requirements, market needs, manufacturing constraints, cost targets, and industry standards. As a customer-facing role, the engineer will frequently engage with clients and participate in trade shows alongside Marketing and Sales to identify and capitalize on new product opportunities.

    Works collaboratively within engineering and cross-functional teams across business units or divisions. Regular interaction with customers and suppliers is expected.

    Essential Functions

    + Product Development: Own and drive product development initiatives, including voice-of-customer research, concept ideation, detailed mechanical design, FEA analysis, validation testing, and production ramp-up, ensuring alignment with company objectives and customer expectations.

    + Design & Analysis: Apply advanced mechanical engineering principles to design robust components and systems. Leverage Six Sigma methodologies, DFSS certification, and FEA experience (preferred) to analyze and validate designs scientifically and efficiently.

    + Customer Engagement & Market Responsibility: Act as a key technical liaison with customers to gather feedback and tailor solutions. Manage product development activities within assigned markets, including customer visits and solution selling.

    + Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Marketing, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to ensure seamless product development and successful market introduction.

    + Technical Mastery & Continuous Learning: Develop deep expertise in TFD products and technologies to innovate effectively. Continuously study target markets and customer needs to identify unmet opportunities. Stay current with emerging trends in product design, materials, manufacturing processes, and quality standards.

    + Regulatory Compliance & Documentation: Ensure all designs comply with applicable industry standards and regulatory requirements. Maintain comprehensive documentation throughout the product lifecycle.

    + Mentorship & Leadership: Serve as a technical resource and mentor to junior engineers. Establish clear goals and objectives, track project progress, and drive successful completion.

    Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; advanced degree a plus.

    + Experience with hydraulic or thermal management system/component design is preferred but not required.

    + 7-9+ years of proven experience in mechanical product development, ideally in complex, cross-disciplinary environments.

    + Demonstrated grit, tenacity, and self-motivation to independently set goals, overcome challenges, and deliver projects on schedule with proactive communication.

    + Strong background in product development from concept through launch, including mechanical design, simulation, and validation testing.

    + Proficient in CAD and engineering analysis tools; familiarity with specialized software or programming languages is a plus.

    + Track record of investigating and integrating new technologies into product designs.

    + Excellent communication skills, able to clearly present technical information, project status, and recommendations to diverse audiences including customers, regulatory bodies, and sales/marketing teams.

    + Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies to plan, track, and deliver complex projects effectively.
