We are hiring for the  $1.6 billion High Speed Rail project that is constructing the first high-speed rail system in our nation. Harris & Associates and PGH Wong are the joint-venture team working for the California High Speed Rail Authority to deliver the first 29-mile segment of this historic project—which has become a model for success across the United States.

Position Summary

The Field Engineer will be responsible for supporting the Construction Manager, on-site, in seeing that the project is constructed in accordance with the approved plans and specifications.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

+ Provide photographic records.

+ Be able to read and understand architectural, structural, and civil drawings

+ Be able to redline drawings and pictures using adobe acrobat

+ Track completed work; and assist in reviewing contractor’s progress payments

+ Provide field support services for submittals, RFIs, and requests for contract change orders.

+ Notify the resident engineer of any observed non-conformances and assist in the issuance of non-conformance reports as required.

+ Participate in and/or conduct planning, preconstruction, coordination, progress, scheduling and field staff meetings.

+ Review plans, specifications, submittals, shop drawings, change orders, constructability reviews and contract closeout records.

+ Assist in detecting and resolving disputes and/or problems

+ Respond to complaints from the public

+ Ensure that all required tests, operations, measurements, and inspections are scheduled, ordered, staff working on progress payments by verifying and preparing quantity and progress estimates.

+ Maintain records on unit price quantities, labor, equipment and progress for change order work.

+ Review change orders for implementation.

+ Make field measurements and maintain as-built drawing records.

+ Conduct and/or witness testing of contract material, equipment, and installations.

+ Report safety and traffic hazards, defective work and debris to the contractor for correction.

Qualifications and Experience

+ Minimum 7 years of relevant work experience

+ 5+ years of verifiable full-time experience in structures inspection work, including two years of experience as a structures inspector working on-site and independently completing inspections

+ Familiarity with transit industry standards, practices, and regulations is helpful.

+ Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record

Skills and Competencies:

+ Potential to perform in a lead capacity.

+ Excellent written and oral communication skills.

+ Must be proficient in the use of Excel and MSWord.

+ Ability to work in a cooperative team environment.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary $110K-$170K B.O.E
