    Job Description: Sr. Process Engineer

     

    The Sr. Process Engineer will play a key role in designing and laying out fluid process systems, ranging from individual equipment like CIP skids to complete plants. This role involves managing projects from the initial concept phase through process design, equipment sizing and specification, installation, and start-up and commissioning. The engineer must maintain effective communication with team members including contractors, consultants, vendors, and clients to ensure seamless project coordination.

    Responsibilities

    + Design and layout fluid process systems for various applications.

    + Develop expertise in batching, processing, packaging, CIP/COP, pasteurization, filtration, and heat exchangers.

    + Understand and design steam, condensate, glycol, tower water, and city water systems.

    + Identify appropriate pumps and valve components for each application.

    + Demonstrate proficiency in instrumentation and controls.

    + Develop mass balances and process flow diagrams (PFD), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID), utility/equipment matrix, timelines, SOPs, and performance specifications for process equipment.

    + Create and manage Requests for Quotation (RFQ).

    + Identify process improvements, analyze opportunities, and implement action plans.

    + Interact with equipment vendors for optimal solutions.

    + Work within established engineering policies and procedures to ensure customer satisfaction.

    + Travel to customer locations to gather project-related information and respond to customer needs.

    + Requisition or purchase essential parts and equipment.

    + Supervise field personnel and manage work performed at customer facilities.

    Essential Skills

    + 8+ years of experience in fluid processing, preferably in regulated dairy.

    + Strong understanding of USDA and FDA regulations.

    + Experience with capital projects, including quoting, procurement, installation, and commissioning.

    + Proficiency in 3D modeling for P&ID's, preferably using Plant 3D.

    + Experience with AutoCAD for 2D modeling and plant layouts.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.

    + Supervisory experience is preferred.

    + Familiarity with industry and market regulations including Dairy 3A, USDA, and FDA guidelines.

    + Proficient in Microsoft Office suite: Word, Excel, Project, and Outlook.

    + Good teamwork and communication skills.

    + Strong interpersonal skills and a valid US Driver’s License.

    + Experience with MES and automation systems is a plus.

    + Ability to manage complex situations and provide solutions for piping problems, efficiency issues, and line layouts.

    Work Environment

    Travel is required approximately 40% of the time, with weekends at home. Travel may vary from day trips to extended stays for large installations, with expenses reimbursed by the company.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $57.69 - $76.92/hr.
