Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and hands-on Manufacturing Engineer / Production Supervisor to drive daily improvements across our production processes while ensuring that operational goals are met efficiently and safely. This dual-role position combines practical engineering know-how with team leadership, focused less on formal methodologies and more on real-world execution, troubleshooting, and process evolution.
Key Responsibilities:
Manufacturing Engineering:
+ Design, implement, and continuously improve manufacturing and test processes and equipment.
+ Conduct hands-on time studies and workflow analysis to enhance productivity and eliminate inefficiencies.
+ Collaborate with design, maintenance, and quality teams to resolve production issues in real-time.
+ Support new product introduction (NPI) through pragmatic process development and validation.
+ Develop and maintain SOPs, work instructions, and technical documentation that reflect actual floor practices.
+ Lead incremental, on-the-ground improvements to manufacturing and test systems-prioritizing what works over theory.
+ Apply 2 second LEAN theory and real-world Lean applications experience to improve the flow of value to the customer.
Production Supervision:
+ Supervise and coordinate daily production team activities to ensure safe, timely, and effective operations.
+ Monitor and respond to production output, quality, and safety needs as they arise.
+ Provide on-the-floor leadership, coaching, and practical support to operators and technicians.
+ Manage shift schedules, labor allocation, and ensure material readiness.
+ Troubleshoot and resolve production issues-including delays, equipment problems, or personnel challenges.
+ Track key production metrics such as output, scrap, downtime, and productivity.
+ Encourage daily 3S and sustained improvement of task flow, organization, and maintenance activities.
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering, OR
+ 10+ years of directly relevant manufacturing experience in lieu of a degree.
+ Minimum 3 years of successful experience as a project team leader in a production or manufacturing setting.
+ Strong background in lean thinking, process improvement, and hands-on production systems.
+ Proficiency with spreadsheets, CAD software and manufacturing tools (e.g., PLCs, ERP systems) is preferred.
+ Excellent communication, organizational, and team leadership skills.
Preferred Skills:
+ Extensive hands-on mechanical, electrical, or process troubleshooting experience.
+ Experience with ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems.
+ Bilingual (i.e. English/Spanish) a plus.
+ Experience setting up real world data collection and the performance of effective data analysis to focus on the best B4B improvements is highly desired.
Note: While Six Sigma certification is not required (nor especially relevant in our environment), experience with continuous, practical daily improvement is essential.
