The FASNY Firefighter’s Home is dedicated to providing a home-like setting and personalized care for those volunteer firefighters who have served their communities, but can no longer care for themselves.

Governed by the Firefighters Association of the State of New York ( FASNY (https://www.fasny.com/) ) Board of Directors and guided by an elected Board of Trustees (https://firemenshome.com/about/trustees/) , the Firefighter’s Home has been the only facility in the world exclusively dedicated to volunteer firefighters for more than 125 years.

Position Overview

The Development Director will lead fundraising efforts to sustain the Firefighter's Home (Home). This role is both strategic and hands-on: you’ll design and implement fundraising plans, build donor relationships, and expand opportunities for giving. You will work closely with the Administrator, Board, and leadership team to ensure long-term financial stability. This position is expected to expand to a full-time role within the first year.

Key Responsibilities

+ Develop and execute an annual fundraising plan, including major gifts, grants, corporate sponsorships, and special events.

+ Cultivate, solicit, and steward donors at all levels.

+ Research and write grant proposals and reports.

+ Partner with the Home leadership team and the Board of Trustees to create and build fundraising capacity.

+ Oversee donor communications, appeals, and fundraising campaigns.

+ Track fundraising progress and prepare regular reports.

Qualifications

+ Proven success in nonprofit fundraising, including major gifts and grants.

+ Strong relationship-building and communication skills.

+ Ability to think strategically while managing day-to-day tasks.

+ Excellent writing, presentation, and organizational skills.

+ Comfort with fundraising databases/CRM systems.
