DESCRIPTION:

The CDL Examiner positions are specialist positions where the employee performs work administering the Georgia driver’s license examinations. An employee in this position is normally assigned to the CDL test site. An employee in this class administers a variety of tests to driver’s license applicants, determines appropriate license category and assures the applicant’s qualifications. All tests will be performed at the Georgia Piedmont Technical College RTTC campus.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

+ Sets up and maintains basic skills course to include accurate measurements for different types of basic skills testing and making boundaries.

+ Administers the CDL Exams which includes a Pre-Trip, Basic Skills and Road Test.

+ Assists in designing and testing routes for road tests.

+ Prepares and submits various reports; maintains records and files of applicants for licenses

+ Provides accurate and detailed paperwork.

+ Able to maintain the highest level of integrity in testing license and permit applicants.

+ Ability to read, comprehend and apply technical guides and resources, such as federal and state regulations for CDL driver’s licensure, including the Georgia Commercial Driver License Manual, and the Examiner’s Manual for Commercial Driver’s License tests.

+ Works efficiently in a fast- paced environment.

May be assigned teaching responsibilities when needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from high school or possesses a GED. Successful completion of the Commercial Driver License Examiner Training Course.

Must possess and maintain a valid commercial Class A & Class B driver’s license with a passenger endorsement, must be able to work in an environment that involves moderate hazards or discomforts such as working outdoors in inclement weather for extended periods of time without a break period.

Applicant must be willing to work a flexible schedule including weekends.

Minimum qualifications for this position will be determined by the teaching discipline and compliance with appropriate accrediting bodies. Faculty must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the course assigned.
