    Job Summary:

    The Adult Education Youth Services Program Career Coach provides a variety of necessary services to recruit, document and serve WIOA Title 1 out of school youth, ages 16-24 seeking their high school equivalency

    Essential Functions:

    Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

     

    + Recruit participants for WIOA-funded HSE/Workplace skills classes at WGTC’s Coweta, Carroll Campus and Heard County site.

    + Complete required paperwork and ongoing documentation and reporting as needed for WIOA contract requirements

    + Provide career exploration and college transition activities to YSP participants

    + Coordinate with class instructors and community partners for delivery of employability skills curriculum/activities.

    + Provide one-to-one support and light case management for all YSP participants to support retention efforts.

    + Prepare monthly required reports; collect participant data, monitor and track progress.

    + Coordinate/communicate with project partners and Adult Education staff on an ongoing basis, as needed

    + Participate in recruitment and outreach activities on campus and throughout the community.

    + Represent the program/college at community meetings and events as appropriate for the position.

    + Participate in professional development and training as appropriate for the position.

    + Other Duties as Assigned

    Competencies:

    + Knowledge of Adult Education and WIOA rules, policies and procedures

    + Oral and written communication skills

    + Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs

    + Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public

    + Decision making and problem-solving skills

    + Ability to handle multiple tasks at once and prioritize workload

    Work Environment:

    This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment and technologies.

    Physical Demands:

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

     

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 25 pounds.

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

    Adult Education provides classes/services in the morning, afternoon and evening hours, Monday through Thursday and in the mornings on Fridays. Standard operating hours for this position are nine-hour days, Monday through Thursday and a four-hour day on Friday

    Location of position:

    West Georgia Technical College Newnan Campus

    Rate of Pay :

    $47,840 per year

     

    Benefits include paid state holidays, vacation and sick leave, retirement, and the State of Georgia Flexible Benefits Program.

    Travel:

    This position will serve out of school youth in Coweta, Carroll and Heard counties. This will require traveling between WGTC campuses to meet with participants.

    Required Education and Experience:

    + Bachelor’s degree in a related field

    + Two years of experience

    + Experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.

    Preferred Education and Experience:

    + Bachelor’s degree

    + Experience working with WIOA funded programs.

    + Experience in counseling, social work, and/or adult education.

    + Experience doing data entry or working within databases.

    + Strong computer, communication, and interpersonal skills;
