**Required Qualifications:** (as evidenced by an attached resume)
Ph.D. in Physics, Materials Science or a closely related discipline. Prior experience in materials characterizations using advanced TEM of functional materials, including the use of 4D STEM, EELS, and Atom probes for interface structure determination.
Preferred Qualifications:
Applicants should have at least two first-author papers published in peer-reviewed journals by the time of application and a proven ability to disseminate research results by writing manuscripts and giving academic presentations. Experience in magnetic materials characterizations and thin film growth.
Brief Description of Duties:
The Postdoctoral Associate will assist Dr. Qiang Li (https://www.stonybrook.edu/commcms/physics/people/\_profiles/liq) in the department of Physics and Astronomy (https://www.stonybrook.edu/commcms/physics/index.php) . The incumbent will conduct research and ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University.
This researcher will be responsible for structural characterization of quantum materials in the form of single crystals or thin films This position also requires the ability to work in a highly collaborative environment with team members having a broad range of scientific and technical backgrounds and levels of experience. In addition, this position will involve training and management of undergraduate or graduate students, development of new proposals, and day-to-day management of laboratories and scientific collaborations. The researcher will be encouraged to lead independent projects resulting in high impact publications. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, be self-motivated and able to work both independently and as a multi-institutional team member.
• Perform experimental works, writing papers, and maintaining the lab equipment
• Mentor graduate and undergraduate students in the research group.
• Present results of research at conferences and workshops.
• Assist PI with preparation and submission of applications for external research funding, progress reports to sponsors, publications.
• Other duties as assigned

The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
