We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented intern to support our construction team in electric distribution operations. This role offers hands-on experience in project coordination, field support, and administrative tasks within a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The intern will work closely with managers and coordinators to ensure smooth execution of construction projects and contribute to operational efficiency.

Typical intern responsibilities may include but are not limited to:** **​

+ Assist in scheduling and coordinating field crews and construction activities

+ Support documentation and tracking of project progress, materials, and work orders

+ Help prepare reports, presentations, and updates for internal stakeholders

+ Participate in site visits and safety audits as needed

+ Communicate with vendors, contractors, and internal teams to support project needs

+ Maintain organized records and assist with data entry and analysis

+ Contribute to process improvement initiatives and team meetings

This position is for a June 1, 2026 start date. This position may have the possibility to extend beyond the internship’s initial term based on the candidate’s successful performance and Xcel Energy’s business needs.

Minimum Requirements:

+ Currently pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field

+ Must be a current Sophomore or higher

+ Strong organizational and communication skills

+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)

+ Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

+ Interest in electric utility operations and infrastructure projects

+ Valid driver's license and personal vehicle

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Familiarity with GIS, scheduling software, or project management tools

+ Previous internship or work experience in construction or utilities

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $17.00 to $27.20 per hour
