    Position Information

    Campus Title Lecturer in Accounting

     

    Department School of Business

    Position Summary

    The School of Business at SUNY Geneseo is inviting applications for a full-time Lecturer in Accounting position to begin in January 2026.

    Duties of the position include:

    + Teach four undergraduate and graduate accounting courses on campus and online per semester. Courses typically include introductory, intermediate, and advanced financial accounting, and may also include tax and other subjects consistent with the candidate’s academic background, professional experiences, and the needs of accounting programs.

    + Collaborating with the other accounting faculty members to update existing courses and develop new courses to meet the changing needs of the accounting profession.

    + Possible site supervision for Geneseo’s Volunteers in Tax Assistance ( VITA ) program each Spring, counted as a course load.

    + Provide academic and career advising and mentoring to accounting students.

    + Service to the School of Business, the College, the accounting profession, and the community.

    Required Qualifications

    + A Master’s or higher degree in accounting, law, business administration, or a highly related field from an accredited institution.

    + A CPA license

    + Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching accounting courses in face-to-face or virtual mode.

    + Three or more years of professional experience in the accounting field.

    + Demonstrated proficiency using online learning platforms and other educational technologies for online teaching.

    + Strong work ethic and ability to work with students of diverse backgrounds.

    + Applicant must have Authorization to work in the United States without VISA sponsorship.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Additional professional certifications (e.g., CMA , CFE , CIA , CISA , CTP , CFP ).

    + Three or more years of experience teaching accounting courses at undergraduate and/or graduate levels.

    + Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching accounting courses in both face-to-face and virtual modes.

    + Experience in developing and coordinating curricular and co-curricular programs.

    + Experience in providing academic and career advice to students.

    + Active involvement in professional accounting societies.
