PDL Technician

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

To manufacture low volume iterative sheet metal assemblies using various manufacturing processes while adhering to high safety & quality standards in a product development setting.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Cutting, forming, and welding of mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum using CNC press brakes, CNC laser, and various welding technologies (Pulse/Short Arc)

• Partner with Engineers to reduce cost, improve quality, and increase manufacturability

• Perform MIG/TIG welding applications

• Uses various hand tools associated with manufacturing processes (grinders/sanders/cut off tools)

• Communicates challenges to department Supervisor and works to collectively solve problems

• Effectively leverages part drawings and CAD models to process workflow

• Provides training & guidance to new hires and other team members as needed

• Uses part nesting software and performs cutting operations on CNC laser

• Sets up and operates 175- & 90-ton press brakes

• Leverages oxy acetylene and plasma cutting torches as needed

• Uses spot welding machine to create weld schedules to apply hardware to sheet metal parts

• Drives forklifts and PIT vehicles to transfer parts & raw materials as needed

• Submits requests for raw materials & consumable items as needed

Required Skills:

• Ability to solve problems

• Strong analytical skills

• Strong print reading and inspection skills

• Strong understanding of raw materials both ferrous and non-ferrous

• Must pass onsite weld test and possess the ability to produce high quality weld assemblies without hard tooling

• Able to concentrate on tasks and work calmly/effectively in a deadline driven environment

• Must be flexible to work overtime as needed

• Ability to build and maintain positive relationships

• Ability to use sound judgment and discretion in dealing with confidential information

• Ability to work independently and prioritize workflow in support of new product phased initiatives

• Must be detail oriented and display above average communication skills

• Must be able to routinely lift up to 40lbs

• Ability to operate forklift and PIT vehicles

Required Education and Experience:

• 5-7 years of experience working in Prototyping or job shop environment

• Completion of technical welding program and/or equivalent work experience required

Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $61,500 - 91,900

Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. Tennant Co. reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualifications of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity. Total Compensation = Base Salary + Benefits
