    The Wire Mesh/Fluid Cell Assembler is responsible for the quality of product and workmanship. Participation in activities designed to improve customer satisfaction, quality, and productivity. The duties encompass all aspects of the assembly process, including development, wire mesh manufacturing, finishing, painting, testing, part marking, product assembly, scheduling, and inspection. Assembles machined parts into a precision assembly. Performs mechanical and visual inspection operations. Determines conformance of products to specifications according to prescribed tests and specifications. Uses problem-solving skills on a daily basis to resolve problems. Review and/or complete associated records as necessary. This position falls within the scope of the FAA Drug and Alcohol program and potential employees must pass FAA Drug Screen upon hire and submit to random testing as required.

     

    + Work from complex drawings, routers, inspection procedures, manufacturing instructions, etc., and use precision measuring or test instruments to inspect and/or test finished parts fabricated by the wire mesh process. Particular attention must be given to stock weights, forms and sizes. Prepare and test samples. Select fixtures per the set-up card or MI, set-up and test samples using a variety of equipment to determine conformity to specifications. Work closely with Quality Engineers, Product Engineers, and/or Technical Supervisors and other support personnel. Create set-up sheets as necessary. Set up and operate a variety of mechanical equipment to perform assembly and other related operations.

    + Use precision measuring instruments to inspect returned material in accordance with product drawings, inspection procedures and/or verbal instructions. Inspect visually, mechanically, or optically, with precision measuring instruments or equipment as required, complex parts, assemblies, returned material, and/or repaired parts to conform to specifications, detailed drawings, established standards, and/or written or oral instructions. Inspect first piece or full heat of parts after wire mesh set-up to determine conformity to specifications and make periodic inspections to ensure they continue to meet specifications. May proof test bonded components.

    + Perform visual inspections, mechanical inspections for defects before, during, and/or after testing. Perform audit and final inspection of products for conformity to specifications. May be necessary to inspect in other departments. Perform minor rework (touch up, remove burrs, and ink stamping). Use working knowledge of geometric tolerancing to perform manual layouts of parts to inspect using bonus tolerances. Use hardness tester, operate optical comparator and a variety of precision measuring equipment as necessary to complete the inspection function, working to close tolerances. Inspect threads using the three-wire measurement system if required.

    + Utilizes various power equipment, such as hydraulic and drill presses, for assembly purposes. Drills, taps, reams, countersinks, and spot faces bolt holes in parts. Fit together component parts using a variety of hand tools or fit by hand to form complete units. Use a variety of measuring instruments to assure conformance with specifications. Apply paints, lacquers, and other surface coatings to conform to specifications, stamp parts with identifying information, and pack finished parts in containers as required.

    + Positions and aligns parts. Bolts, screws, and rivets parts together. Laps and hones internal cylindrical surfaces. Mark identifying information on parts.

    + Make minor repairs on equipment and maintain a supply of usable adapters, nuts, bolts, etc. Keep fixtures, tools and mechanical equipment in proper condition and store loose items in a neat and orderly fashion.

    + Document inspection, test results and methods. Prepare and plot graphs, serialize. Use of computer for PPTD, Discrepant Reports, S/N logs, inspection procedures, fixture locations and skip-lot. Complete all paperwork in an accurate and timely fashion. Complete all appropriate labor transactions as required. Audit and /or complete required inspection records, graphs, or reports.

    + Disassemble, salvage, and rework parts returned from internal and external customers. Assemble component parts into final product configuration. Aids in the overhaul of some Repair Station fluid mounts and wire mesh products.

    + Identify & participate in resolving manufacturing difficulties and customer service/quality/productivity problems.

    + Stamp, mark, separate, count, weigh, measure, stock, pick, pack, and cycle count components and finished assemblies for new and returned materials. Package parts as necessary; maintaining accurate component and subassembly supply transactions.

    + Train new operators and/or cross train existing department personnel.

    + Keep workstation neat and orderly.

    + Perform other similar and related duties as required.

    + Ability to work from detailed drawing, specification and procedure.

    + Knowledge of assembly, rework, and metal preparation including cleaning, coating, testing and machining of finished metal surfaces.

    + Knowledge of computer operations including Word, Excel, SAP, etc.

    + Ability to analyze and resolve problems on a wide variety of parts, including returned material.

    + Ability to assist with writing various plans, procedures, and operating instructions utilizing LEAN manufacturing techniques.

    + Use of precision measuring instruments.

    + Strong electrical/mechanical knowledge of complex assemblies to assemble and inspect in accordance with specifications while using GD&T knowledge.

    + Knowledge sufficient to setup and operate hydraulic, arbor and air presses, paint spray equipment and various hand tools. Certified Operator license required.

    + Judgment and initiative required in planning, interpreting, disposition, inspecting, and performing a wide variety of operations on many different P/N's in an effective sequence within limits of recognized standards or procedures in a self-directed team environment.

    + Set-up and operate a variety of moderately complex equipment. Use various hand tools, loading devices, gages and measuring devices. Accuracy in performing operations and recording data required. High degree of manual skill required for ink stamping and spray paint operations.

    + Moderate physical effort, with occasional heavy lifting, requiring an assistant or mechanical lifting devices. May stand, walk, sit, push, and pull, while intermittently lifting and moving material or working on a specific part or packing parts.

    + 2-3 years experience
