    Job Title: Land Survey Crew Chief Job Description

     

    We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Land Survey Crew Chief or Junior Crew Chief to join our team in Raleigh, NC. The ideal candidate will have experience with boundary, topographic, and construction surveys, and should be familiar with automated survey instrumentation and construction plans. While candidates with two or more years of experience are preferred, we are willing to provide training for those eager to learn.

    Responsibilities

    + Operate as a one-person crew utilizing advanced robotic and GPS equipment.

    + Apply working knowledge of construction layout, cut sheets, survey calculations, boundary and title surveys, topographic surveys, and data collection.

    + Communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, with team members and clients.

    + Research and review land records, legal documents, and historical survey data to determine property boundaries.

    + Establish boundary markers and reference points using high-accuracy surveying techniques.

    + Conduct traverses and level loops using advanced techniques and equipment to establish control points.

    + Maintain detailed notes, records, and sketches to document and certify work performance.

    + Communicate daily with project surveyors and CAD technicians regarding project schedules and progress.

    + Ensure the surveying team adheres to safety protocols and practices in the field.

    + Maintain company vehicles and equipment.

    Essential Skills

    + Proficiency in operating robotic and GPS equipment.

    + Understanding of boundary, topographic, and construction surveys.

    + Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    + Experience with survey calculations and data collection.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Experience with AutoCAD is a plus.

    + Familiarity with Trimble Total Station and Topcon.

    + Ability to maintain high safety standards in the field.

    Work Environment

    The successful candidate will work out of our Raleigh, NC office, which provides a casual and flexible working environment. We offer flexible work-from-home options and the opportunity to grow with a smaller, dynamic team as we expand our presence in North Carolina. The office currently has 12 members, with plans to expand to 20 in the next 12-18 months.     This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Raleigh, North Carolina.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr.
