Screen Rant is seeking a Lead Awards Editor to oversee and expand our coverage of the entertainment industry’s biggest ceremonies and throughout-the-year FYC coverage, from the Oscars and Emmys to the Golden Globes, Critics Choice, Guild Awards, and beyond. This role requires deep knowledge of awards season and all of the industry players, a strong editorial vision, and the ability to manage content and a team of writers. The Lead Awards Editor will be responsible for shaping Screen Rant’s awards coverage strategy, delivering breaking news, analysis, and features that position the site as a leading voice during awards season.
Your Responsibilities:
+ Content Strategy: Develop and execute a year-round awards coverage calendar that aligns with Screen Rant’s brand goals, traffic goals, and industry trends.
+ Editorial Leadership: Plan, assign, and edit coverage for major film and television award shows, including predictions, nomination analysis, live event coverage, and post-show reporting.
+ Writing & Presence: Write and produce original awards-focused content while serving as a leading voice in the For Your Consideration (FYC) conversation both on Screen Rant and across social media platforms.
+ Team Management: Build, guide, mentor, and manage a team of staff writers and freelancers as needed, ensuring high-quality, timely content.
+ Breaking News: Oversee quick-turnaround reporting of nominations, winners, controversies, and viral awards moments.
+ Industry Expertise: Provide in-depth commentary, features, and interviews that showcase knowledge of awards history, voting bodies, and cultural impact.
+ Collaboration: Work with the broader editorial leadership to integrate awards content into Screen Rant’s overall film/TV coverage.
Experience and Skills:
+ 5+ years experience in entertainment journalism, with a focus on awards coverage.
+ Strong editorial judgment, writing, and editing skills with a proven track record of generating traffic-driving content.
+ In-depth knowledge of the film and TV industries, awards history, and major voting organizations.
+ Experience managing writers and editorial workflows in a digital newsroom.
+ SEO and analytics-driven mindset with the ability to adjust strategy based on performance.
+ Active on social media as a thought leader in the entertainment space and willing to champion their own and team’s FYC coverage.
+ Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends during major awards events
+ On-camera or podcast experience offering commentary on awards.
+ Established industry contacts and PR relationships.
+ Experience with live-blogging or real-time event coverage.
