    Responsible for unique or complex information systems and/or information technology projects across more than one discipline, such as application support, database administration, software quality assurance/quality control, software engineering, network telecommunications, and infrastructure operations of administration, analysis, engineering and design. Provides direction to other IT Administrators on the project in a senior administrator capacity. Considered a technical specialist in a variety of IT administrator disciplines.

     

    + Install new or rebuild existing servers both physical and virtual.

    + Configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, and storage through Agile methodologies.

    + Perform day-to-day maintenance, patching and ensuring STIG compliance by monitoring, testing performance, troubleshooting OS, resolving hardware and software problems, scheduling upgrades, and collaborating with other engineers on network / system optimization.

    + Deploy, configure, and troubleshoot systems.

    + Research new technologies and leverage optimization techniques to ensure that systems operate efficiently.

    + Experience with transitioning on-premise applications and software to the government hybrid-cloud solution.

    + Maintain DoD approved cloud service providers to provide information technology services and capabilities to include high performance computing, Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), Data as a Service (DaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS) Cloud Service Offerings (CSOs).

    + Performs root cause analysis and diagnostics on very complex production systems.

    + Identifies opportunities for process improvements and works with team members to implement efficiencies.

    + Effectively create and maintain relevant systems documentation and user guides.

    + Acts as a mentor to junior team members. May act in a lead capacity, providing direction and oversight to a team of administrators.

    Minimum Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field or equivalent relevant experience; Master’s Degree preferred.

    + 8-15 years of experience in information technology, systems administration or other IT related field.

    Other Job Specific Skills

    + IA certification IAW DoD Instruction 8570.01M required.

    + Applies standard methodology, techniques, procedures and criteria.

    + Ability to analyze, troubleshoot and resolve complex system hardware, software or networking related problems.

    + Ability to plan and coordinate the deployment of new technology and resolve technical problems individually and as a senior project participant.

    + Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing and to translate technical terminology into terms understandable to non-technical employees/customers.

    + Ability to consistently meet and exceed expectations and incorporate customer service into all aspects of work.

    + Advanced experience with Citrix, SAN storage systems, VMware (vCenter).

    + Experience with a variety of systems to include VMware, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, vCenter, etc.

    + Experience automating or orchestrating the provisioning of new services.

    + Advanced knowledge of security policies, requirements, and vulnerabilities.

    + Proficient in developing infrastructure-as-a-code solutions for continuous deployment.

    + Working knowledge of token/PIV based authentications, desktop visualization software and director services, Oracle databases, configuration and auto deployment tools.

     

    Compensation Ranges

     

    Compensation ranges for ASM Research positions vary depending on multiple factors; including but not limited to, location, skill set, level of education, certifications, client requirements, contract-specific affordability, government clearance and investigation level, and years of experience. The compensation displayed for this role is a general guideline based on these factors and is unique to each role. Monetary compensation is one component of ASM's overall compensation and benefits package for employees.
