Transportation Coordinator – U.S. Army Equipment Turn-In Site (Contractor)
The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating the inbound and outbound movement of Army equipment and materiel during the turn-in process at a contractor-operated site. This role ensures that all shipments are conducted in compliance with Defense Transportation Regulation (DTR), U.S. Army transportation policies, and contract requirements, while maintaining accurate documentation and supporting accountability of government property.
Responsibilities
Inbound & Outbound Coordination
+ Coordinate receipt and shipment of vehicles, equipment, and repair parts turned in by Army units.
+ Develop and manage shipment schedules to avoid bottlenecks during mass turn-in operations.
+ Liaise with unit supply personnel, warehouse staff, and drivers to ensure smooth cargo flow.
Documentation & Systems
+ Prepare and process shipping/receiving documents, including DA Form 1348-1A, DD Form 1149, bills of lading, TCMDs, and load plans.
+ Enter movement data into Army logistics/transportation systems (TC-AIMS II, GCSS-Army, DPAS).
+ Maintain shipping and receiving logs for audit readiness under ISO 9001:2015 QMS.
Compliance & Safety
+ Ensure compliance with DTR 4500.9-R, AR 55-355, AR 710-2, and AR 735-5.
+ Verify proper HAZMAT packaging, marking, and labeling for transportation.
+ Enforce cargo securement and vehicle safety inspections in line with Army and OSHA standards.
Reporting & Customer Support
+ Provide daily and weekly movement status reports to the Site Manager and COR (Contracting Officer’s Representative).
+ Track key performance metrics such as on-time shipments, cargo discrepancies, and transit delays.
+ Serve as the primary contact for Army units on transportation-related matters, assisting with shipment discrepancies or documentation issues.
Qualifications
+ High school diploma required; an Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Logistics, Supply Chain, or Transportation preferred but not required
+ 3–5 years of transportation or logistics coordination (Army contractor or military environment strongly preferred).
+ Prior experience with Army turn-in or SSA operations highly desirable.
Knowledge Requirements:
+ Army regulations: AR 55-355, AR 710-2, AR 735-5, and DTR 4500.9-R.
+ Familiarity with Army systems: TC-AIMS II, GCSS-Army, DPAS, LMP.
+ Transportation documentation standards and cargo securement practices.
Skills:
+ Strong organizational and scheduling skills.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
+ Ability to read, interpret, and prepare Army transportation forms.
+ Excellent communication skills with Army personnel and contractor staff.
+ Knowledge of HAZMAT handling, DOT/OSHA safety, and load securement.
+ Must have a valid Texas driver's license w/proof of vehicle insurance.
+ Must have a valid ID.
+ Must be able to travel within the US if/when needed.
