The Director of Institutional Effectiveness provides strategic leadership for institutional assessment and research. The Director plays a critical role in supporting the Mercy College mission as a healthcare-focused institution offering rigorous undergraduate and graduate academic programs. Reporting directly to the President, the Director leads a team to ensure institutional reporting, decision-making, and planning are grounded in high-quality data, fully aligned with accreditation and regulatory requirements, and support continuous institutional and academic quality improvement.
Essential Job Functions:
+ Direct and manage the Office of Institutional Effectiveness, including supervision of professional staff, oversight of budgets, training, and performance management.
+ Serve as the primary advisor to leadership on matters related to institutional research, assessment, and data-informed decision-making.
+ Carry out special projects as assigned and contribute to institutional initiatives and cross-functional teams.
+ Collaborate with functional leaders to oversee the development and maintenance of institutional key performance indicators (KPIs).
+ Facilitate strategic planning data reporting, ensuring that unit-level goals, performance measures, and action plans are aligned with institutional strategic goals and outcomes or KPIs.
+ Prepare succinct, actionable reports, dashboards, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
+ Issue periodic status updates and a formal annual report on the College’s progress for internal and external audiences.
+ Collaborate with leadership to develop and steward systematic, evidence-based reviews that help drive quality improvement while meeting accreditation and regulatory requirements.
+ Support faculty, staff, and other stakeholders in creating meaningful learning-outcomes, service-outcomes, and operational-efficiency measures; coordinating the identification, implementation, and periodic review of institutional effectiveness indices; and survey design, data analysis, and action planning .
+ Support data entry, maintenance, and collection needs for all institutional and programmatic accreditation efforts and ensure that planning and institutional effectiveness processes adhere to definitions and guidelines established by regulators and accreditors.
+ Maintain a comprehensive evidence repository and calendar to guarantee timely, accurate submission of compliance reports and self-studies.
+ Provide descriptive and statistical analyses using appropriate software and written summaries, presentations, and actionable recommendations where appropriate.
+ Provide advisory and review services to leaders on evolving accreditation and regulatory assessment and measurement standards.
+ Collaborate with the Director of Governance & Compliance to ensure that all accreditation and regulatory reports are completed in a timely fashion .
+ Collaborate with leadership to establish and maintain a secure comprehensive data warehouse/data-store that integrates all available data sources; migrate college data and reports to a central location.
+ Enforce data governance policies and quality-control protocols in partnership with IT and Compliance.
+ Lead initiatives that improve data integrity, reduce duplication, and expand analytic capacity across the institution.
+ In collaboration with senior leaders, facilitate efforts (e.g. seminars, workshops, and consultations, etc.) that build faculty, staff, and administrator competence in assessment design, data literacy, accreditation readiness, and evidence-based planning.
+ Maintain professional currency through continuing education and active participation in relevant associations.
+ Promote cooperative relationships in the College, healthcare system, clinical partners, and the broader community (to include other higher education institutions) to advance shared goals in healthcare education quality and workforce development.

Education
+ Masters Degree in Institutional or educational research, statistics, data science or related fields (required)
+ Post graduate degree in Higher Education Administration, Leadership, or related field (preferred)
Work Experience
+ Minimum (5) years of higher education experience in data science or institutional research, demonstrating a capacity to lead comprehensive evaluation systems to measure and enhance institutional effectiveness.
+ Experience in managing large-scale data collection, analysis, and data utilization for institutional, and programmatic advancement, utilizing Excel, and SPSS or R.
+ Previous work experience in a leadership role, including successful implementation and management of college or company-wide projects.
+ Experience with data governance and compliance with federal and state regulations.
+ Knowledge of modern data warehousing and business intelligence platforms such as Tableau, Power BI or Argos

+ Strong understanding of accreditation processes, risk management, and higher education regulations.
+ Proven leadership in policy development, strategic planning, and governance structures.
+ Must be available for compliance audits, accreditation visits, and governance meetings.
+ Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
+ Ability to work collaboratively across multiple campuses and with diverse stakeholders.
