Field Service Technician – Kaeser Compressors

Position Summary
The Field Service Technician is a critical member of the service team, responsible for installing,
servicing, troubleshooting, and maintaining industrial air compressors and related equipment at
customer sites. This role requires strong mechanical and electrical skills, excellent
problem-solving abilities, and a customer-focused attitude to ensure optimal system
performance and customer satisfaction.
In addition to technical expertise, the Field Service Technician serves as a customer-facing
professional, providing clear communication, exceptional service, and practical
recommendations for system improvements. By building strong relationships and offering
proactive support, the technician helps customers optimize their compressed air systems while
maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and professionalism.
This role requires a strong combination of mechanical, electrical, and diagnostic skills, as well
as the ability to interpret technical documentation and apply practical problem-solving in
real-world situations. The technician will manage daily service calls, maintain accurate records
of all work performed including detailed notes and photos in the field, and proactively identify
opportunities to improve equipment efficiency and reliability.
In addition to hands-on service work, the Field Service Technician will collaborate with the
service, parts, and sales teams to support customers with system upgrades, preventive
maintenance programs, and operational training. Success in this role requires a
customer-focused attitude, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently
and in a team environment while maintaining a strong commitment to safety and quality
standards.
Key Responsibilities
+ Perform installation, startup, and commissioning of air compressor systems and accessories.
+ Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on compressors, dryers, and other compressed air equipment.
+ Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control issues to minimize downtime.
+ Perform system inspections and make recommendations for repairs, upgrades, or efficiency improvements.
+ Complete detailed service reports, documenting work performed, parts used, and follow-up recommendations.
+ Maintain personal tools in good condition; use company-calibrated tools and diagnostic equipment properly.
+ Communicate effectively with customers to explain issues, completed work, and preventive maintenance options.
+ Provide technical support and guidance to customers and less-experienced team members when needed.
+ Keep company vehicle and parts inventory organized, clean, and in good condition.
+ Participate in training programs to stay current with new equipment, technologies, and safety standards.
+ Support emergency on-call service rotations, ensuring customers receive timely assistance.
+ Follow all safety protocols, company policies, and industry regulations to maintain a safe work environment.
+ Assist with inventory control, reporting low stock or needed parts to the service team.
+ Report potential sales opportunities for parts, service contracts, or system upgrades to the sales team or management.
+ Collaborate with the service and operations teams to ensure efficient job scheduling and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
Required:
+ High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
+ 2+ years of mechanical or electrical service experience (industrial maintenance or similar field).
+ Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
+ Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
+ Valid driver’s license and clean driving record and able to pass background and drug screening.
+ Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in varying industrial environments.
+ Must own a set of standard personal hand tools for daily field work.
+ Must maintain personal tools in good condition for safe and efficient use.
Preferred:
+ Experience working with air compressors, blowers, or other industrial equipment.
+ Technical certification or trade school training in mechanical, electrical, or industrial
+ maintenance fields.
+ Basic computer and mobile device skills for reporting and communication.

Work Environment
Work is primarily performed at customer sites, which may involve loud environments, confined
spaces, or varying temperatures.
Regular travel within the service region is required; occasional nights / weekends may be
needed.
Tools Provided by Company
+ All calibrated tools, specialized diagnostic equipment, and safety gear will be provided and maintained by the company.
+ Service vehicle and fuel card provided for work-related travel.
