    About this Job

     

    This vacancy is located in St. Martin Parish and will support the Special Investigations Section of the Office of State Police

    The Special Investigations Division is made up of the following sections/units/programs:

    + Technical Support Unit

     

    The Technical Support Unit is responsible for providing technical investigative support to the Louisiana State Police as well as well as other state and local law enforcement agencies in Louisiana.

     

    + Special Victims Unit

     

    Rescue and seek justice for the victims of crimes involving the exploitation of children and the trafficking of humans for sex or labor through investigative partnerships with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, and through public education.

     

    + Insurance Fraud / Auto Theft Unit (IFAT) (https://lsp.org/ifu/)

     

    The IFAT Unit is responsible for investigating referrals of suspected fraudulent insurance acts; assisting federal and local law enforcement in the investigation of fraudulent insurance acts; cooperating with local prosecutors and the attorney general's office in the prosecution of fraudulent insurance acts; and promoting awareness of insurance fraud throughout the state. Additionally, the Unit is responsible for investigating individuals and illicit organizations involved in the theft of motor vehicles.

     

    + Louisiana Clearinghouse for Missing and Exploited Children (https://lsp.org/about/leadershipsections/bureau-of-investigations/special-investigations-division/louisiana-clearing-house-for-missing-and-exploited-children/)

     

    Created in 1985 by the Louisiana Legislature, LACMEC is the central repository of information about missing and exploited children. Parents, guardians, law enforcement and National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) provide the clearinghouse with details and photos to send across the state and nation. This information is sent to local law enforcement agencies to assist in the recovery of these missing children. LACMEC also gives parents and guardians important information on the role they play in helping their children return home and available local and national resources.

     

    + Cyber Crimes Unit

     

    The Cyber Crime Unit mission is to provide accurate and timely threat intelligence, incident response, and forensic analysis to prevent and mitigate cyber threats to Louisiana. The unit supports criminal investigations surrounding cyberattacks and network intrusions. These efforts include traditional digital extraction and forensics, as well as, network forensic and analysis with the goal of determining the root cause of a single event or in support of a larger operation. Information sharing of actionable cyber intelligence is conducted at no cost to federal, state, local and private sector entities.

     

    + Investigative Support Section

    This section is comprised of the two following units/programs:

    + Louisiana State Analytical & Fusion Exchange (LA-SAFE) (http://la-safe.org/)

     

    The mission of the Louisiana State Analytical & Fusion Exchange (LA-SAFE) is to support public safety and homeland security in an all–crimes/all-hazards environment and to support federal, state, and local agencies by collecting, analyzing, and disseminating information and intelligence data regarding criminal and terrorist activity.

     

    + Criminal Intelligence Unit (https://lsp.org/about/leadershipsections/bureau-of-investigations/special-investigations-division/criminal-intelligence-unit/)

     

    It shall be the mission of the Louisiana State Police Criminal Intelligence Unit to collect, evaluate, and disseminate information on known or suspected criminal violators, groups, or organizations for analytical exploitation by the Investigative Support Unit. LA-SAFE will provide the department, other local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies with timely information regarding matters directly or indirectly affecting the safety and security of the people in the state. The Criminal Intelligence Unit shall only collect and retain information which is directly related to a legitimate law enforcement purpose. The activities of this unit shall not interfere with the exercise of constitutionally guaranteed rights and privileges of individuals.

    This position uses the Louisiana State Civil Service Hiring Framework System and is looking for applicants for the following Competencies:

    Minimum Qualifications

    Three years of experience in administrative services; OR

    Six years of full-time work experience in any field; OR

    A bachelor's degree.

    EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:

    Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

    Job Duties and Other Information

    Job Duties:

    + Serve as a central point of contact for the Insurance Fraud Analysis Team (IFAT) workflow process across the state.

    + Act as a liaison between the Louisiana State Police (LSP), Louisiana Department of Insurance (LDI), Office of the Attorney General, National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB), and insurance industry Special Investigative Units (SIUs).

    + Receive fraud referrals from LDI, verify the completeness and accuracy of information, and enter the full referral into the Report Management System (Mark43).

    + Distribute verified referrals to the statewide IFAT Coordinator for assignment.

    + Coordinate with non-NICB member insurance providers to request claim files and track the status of those requests.

    + Communicate regularly with the IFAT Lieutenant to organize and monitor referral distribution and assignment across IFAT offices.

    + Assist in managing claim file requests with NICB and insurance companies, including updating status logs when files are ready for assignment.

    + Support the development and production of the IFAT Annual Report by:

    + Gathering statistical data, case highlights, photos, and updates on personnel and key events.

    + Collaborating closely with the IFAT Lieutenant and analyst to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
