    Job Summary:

    This is a full-time/exempt term position lasting six months to one year.

    JOB SUMMARY

    In your pivotal role as a Scientific Research Project Manager, you will manage large multi-disciplinary projects under occasional guidance. Communicate with stakeholders across funding organizations and within the department to maximize information sharing around progress, needs, interdependencies and/or accomplishments. Coordinate activities of best practice maintenance, project team, project development and timeline management, special projects, quality control of deliverables and standardization of processes toward more effective and efficient operations.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    + Plans, develops, leads and executes projects in order to meet established goals and objectives at the direction of the Principal Investigator.

    + Utilizes scientific knowledge and quantitative and qualitative research skills to perform a variety of research- and operations-related activities, data management, analysis of quantitative and qualitative data, report preparation and management of project budgets and schedules for proposals and projects.

    + Identifies appropriate resources needed and coordinates the curation of research data.

    + Utilizes knowledge of large biomedical datasets to inform project planning, data curation activities, and/or research support.

    TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES

    PROJECT PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT (INTERMEDIATE)

    + Demonstrates proficiency in providing professional and scientific guidance in the execution of day-to-day research project activities. Builds subject matter expertise in relevant areas and is able to thoughtfully identify and execute on next steps to keep projects on track under occasional guidance. Plans and product and/or project requirements documents, project plans, timelines, and other documentation under occasional guidance. Identifies gaps in processes and potential areas for improvement. Facilitates meetings as required with sponsoring agencies and/or collaborators. Communicates as needed with colleagues, program leadership, collaborating professionals, and others.

    PROJECT MANAGEMENT (INTERMEDIATE)

    + Demonstrates comprehensive understanding in developing and communicating appropriate project documentation, including project overview, scope, team structure, status reports, issues management reports, change control reports, meeting notes, etc., as required in a timely manner. Coordinates and may lead project team and work group meetings, as required. Manages and communicates project status to team members and executive staff, including management of project website, consistent status reporting, and presentations. Identifies, documents, and manages project issues and escalates, as appropriate, to achieve timely resolution. Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies including meeting deadlines, when applicable. Demonstrates competence with preparing executive level communications and presentations that require the synthesis of complex and sometimes technical information pertaining to large biomedical datasets.

    DATA ANALYSIS (INTERMEDIATE)

    + Serves as the data advisor on projects. Builds relevant subject matter expertise in areas related to large biomedical datasets and demonstrates proficiency in understanding end-to-end data lifecycles and dataflows. Demonstrates competence with data documentation, including data dictionaries and data flow diagrams. May assist with the design of quality control measures and reporting metrics for data.

    LEADERSHIP (INTERMEDIATE)

    + Manages multiple projects simultaneously. Maintains tools, computer programs, and SOPs required for projects and/or products. Ensures that regulations and SOPs are followed in all activities. Provides project management leadership through effective goal setting, delegation, hands-on involvement and communication. May contribute to intellectual property development and patent prosecution.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    + Bachelor’s Degree (Required)

    + 2 years of relevant experience (Required)

    + Master’s Degree or PhD in appropriate scientific discipline preferred

    Additional Information:

    This is a term position. A term position is a staff position that exists for a period longer than six months but is not expected to last beyond one year. Although a position may exist for a specified or indefinite period, staff who accept term positions are not guaranteed employment for the entire period; they are employed for indefinite periods within the limit of the appointment. There are no guarantees of continued employment, either within the term or when the term ends. This position may also have the opportunity to work remotely.
