    Responsible for shaping, delivering, and guiding complex, strategic and sensitive communications across White Cap, which will include executive communications, HR communications, public relations, and crisis communications support. Serve as a trusted advisor and thought partner to the communications director, leadership and functional clients, ensuring alignment of messaging with organizational goals, values, and culture.

     

    Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

    Messaging Development and Management:

    + Translate complex concepts into simple, compelling narratives tailored to diverse audiences.

    + Manage messaging across multiple platforms (written, digital, verbal) to ensure clarity, consistency and impact.

    + Collaborate with communications colleagues in planning, scheduling and sourcing resources across holistic business needs.

    + Enhance transparency, fostering trust, and strengthening the organization's brand with associates, stakeholders, and external audiences.

    Strategic Planning and Execution:

    + Develop, execute and manage comprehensive communication plans and that align with key company, departmental and functional objectives.

    + Anticipate communication needs, translate complex information into clean and compelling narratives, and drive consistency across internal and external channels.

    Internal Communications Support:

    + Create and oversee executive communications (speeches, memos, talking points).

    + Ensure communications resonate based on preferences, nuances and access of associates, and reflect the needs of the business.

    + Provide counsel on communication risks and opportunities, and influence outcomes through sound judgment, discretion, and strategic insight.

    + Create, edit and manage high-quality content for various internal communication channels, including intranet, emails and presentations.

    + Ensure messaging is clear, engaging and tailored to the audience.

    Communications Partnership and Advisory:

    + Serves as a thought partner to leaders, providing communications counsel on messaging, time and approach for complex or sensitive topics.

    + Develop an understanding of varied and complex audience segments and communication needs of business, functions, and projects.

    + Serve as a strategic advisor to various internal client groups, providing counsel on effective communication strategies based on audience and organizational goals and/or change management needs.

    External Communications Support:

    + Support external messaging, including press releases, PR inquires, and media outreach materials or programs; provide support for crisis communications, ensuring alignment with brand and reputation objectives.

    + Develop communication responses for sensitive or high-profile issues in partnership with leadership.

    Nature and Scope

    + Consults with senior management on solution development for complex strategic and technical business issues. Independently solves unique and complex problems that have a broad impact on the business. Assignments are large scope, high impact, high cost, and high importance.

    + Establishes operational plans for assigned area. Acts as a strategic advisor and uses expert skills to contribute to the development of strategic company objectives. Receives general administrative and business direction as needed. Typically operates with broad latitude in a complex environment.

    + Guides and mentors' staff at all levels, provides advice to senior management on complex and strategic issues, and may lead or manage complex projects with dotted line responsibility.

    Work Environment

    + Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

    + Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

    + Typically requires overnight travel less than 5% of the time.

    Education and Experience

    + Typically requires a bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of experience in a related field OR MS/MA and generally 8+ years of experience in a related field. Maintains expert knowledge in area of responsibility with a strong understanding in adjacent areas for the development of creative solutions.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + At least seven years' experience in Corporate Communications or PR Agency (Marketing Communications experience is not applicable).

    + Progressive experience in Corporate Communications, public relations, and/or internal communications preferred.

    + Experience supporting executives, with a focus on message development and crisis response preferred

    + Demonstrated experience developing and executing strategic communication plans for complex organizations. Proven experience translating complex or technical information into clear, compelling, and audience-appropriate messaging.

    + Strong executive presence and experience partnering directly with senior leadership. Strong judgment, discretion, and management of sensitive or confidential information.

    + Strong business acumen, including the ability to understand and relay complex information in an engaging way, interact effectively with all levels of the organization, and formulate and present ideas and information, clearly and concisely.

    + Excellent written, grammatical, and oral communication, time management and organizational skills.

    + Consulting skills with the proven ability to counsel senior leaders and build relationships throughout the organization.

    + Strong project management skills and attention to detail. Must be able to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously.

    + Self-directed and energetic with high emotional intelligence and a positive approach to management.
